Meet Pesto!
Pesto didn't exactly get the start in life he deserved. At just five weeks old, he and his siblings were dumped in a cardboard box in the middle of nowhere, absolutely covered in fleas. Thankfully, with plenty of TLC from OTC and one very dedicated foster carer, Pesto has put those rough beginnings well behind him!
He's grown into a gorgeous little character with a beautiful balance of sweetness, playfulness and just the right amount of cheek! He's gentle and affectionate, but certainly knows how to have fun. Because the litter was dumped, we can't guarantee the breed mix- but they all seem very border collie x, and so we'd guess they'll hit around 25-30kg fully grown. All we know for sure is they're brilliant little dogs with great natures!
Pesto has been raised in a busy foster home, where people come and go on different schedules, so he's already getting a great introduction to everyday family life. His foster carer has put a huge amount of love and effort into giving him the best possible start, and we'd love to see that wonderful work continue in his forever home. Pesto lives with a sibling and also a cat, who he is learning to be gentle with.
With medium to high energy levels, Pesto will thrive with a family who can offer plenty of play time and enrichment, and like any young pup, he'll need ongoing training, patience and consistency as he grows. He needs a home where he will be welcomed inside at night, where he belongs as part of the family. He would do fine with a family who are out of the home for a few hours at a time, and while he would adjust to being a single dog, he might appreciate a friend to keep him company and show him the ropes. Otherwise, if he is to be a single dog, regular socialisation with other calm and friendly dogs would do him some good, so that he can maintain his social skills.
Pesto really does have all the makings of a fantastic family dog. He's sweet, funny and ready to make the most of everything this new chapter of life has to offer. He's come a long way from that cardboard box, and now it's time for him to meet his forever family.

Adoption details
Before applying, you should have the following already confirmed:
1. Real estate approval (if renting)
2. A rates notice as proof of home ownership (if owner)
3. Secure, suitable fencing and outdoor shelter
4. Ability to meet the pet’s dietary needs (breed size, age, medical requirements)
5. Capacity to provide appropriate enrichment, exercise, and training
To apply, you must complete the OTC Adoption Application. This form is an expression of interest only and is not a contract. The application takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Some applicants may take more or less time. This timeframe gives an indication of the level of detail required at the initial screening stage.
We do not approve meet-and-greets without a completed and approved application. Applications must be completed in full; incomplete applications will not be followed up. Required photos of yard and fencing must be provided within 48 hours or the application will not proceed. Photos may be sent via our Facebook page or emailed to offthechaink9rescue@outlook.com.
Due to the volume of behind-the-scenes work, we are not always able to contact applicants whose application is not a suitable match for the pet they have applied for, however we do endeavour to do so where possible. Transport Information
1. Transport is considered only after an adoption application has been submitted. Please apply before sourcing transport to avoid unnecessary arrangements and delays if you are not approved.
2. Submit an adoption application as outlined above.
3. Obtain transport quotes and select your preferred provider. We recommend Aeropets, Jetpets, Dogtainers, or Pet Waggin for road transport.
4. Advise us via email or Facebook message that you have applied and are beginning the transport sourcing process. This is a good time to advise any additional details, such as holding periods or limited departure days.
5. If your adoption application and transport plans are proceeding, we will coordinate departure, fit-to-fly/road requirements, food delivery, and any other necessary elements with you.
6. Adoption contracts, adoption fees, and photo ID must be submitted before the animal is released to transport.
7. Transport approval is subject to the individual animal’s suitability for travel and the standard of care provided by the selected transport company. Not all animals will be approved for transport. If an animal is not suitable to travel, this will be clearly stated on their adoption profile.
