Adoption information
About Murphy - 7 Month Old Mixed Breed
Lovingly known as Murf, he came into DRN care at 5 months old with this sister (Aubrey, also available for adoption) in a condition that no dog should find themselves in. Since then the little fella has very willingly accepted all the love and food that he can get.
Murf's perfect day is to follow his humans around, wait patiently while they use the bathroom, ensure that they have a warm body next to them on the couch, check that they are really working from home and tell you when he thinks that it is time for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Murf will go into his crate and rest up when he needs his space.
He has little to no experience in the world and finds it a bit scary at times. 🌎 He has discovered balls and loves his stuffies.
Murf is curious and because he loves his food treats he is very easy to encourage and motivate. He absolutely thrives on praise, pats and treats and is quick to particate in learning. He has already learned sit and is beginning to learn lie down and wait. Murf would really benefit from ongoing training with his new family to continue building his confidence around strangers, new places and unfamiliar experiences. At home his toilet training has progressed well and he sleeps quietly all night without a peep until morning (crate or coach) 💕
🐾 An ideal home for Murf would be with dog-savvy children who understand that he sometimes needs a little space and time to feel comfortable and possibly with another dog to show him the ropes. When startled or frightened, Murphy can bark or growl, which could be intimidating for younger children, so we’re looking for a home with children aged 12+. Murf loves his food and is not protective of it.
This very distinguished looking gentleman is expected to grow into a medium dog, so he'll need a secure yard, daily exercise, enrichment and a family committed to continuing his training and socialisation. Most importantly, he needs someone who will give him the time, patience and reassurance he deserves.
