About Wayne
A special needs boy brimming with love and playfulness.
Our new boy Wayne arrived into foster care very overwhelmed but within mere hours he was tackling all the scary aspects of pet life and deciding he was pretty pleased with the whole situation. Once his intial nervousness passed his curiosity and mischief energy arrived in full force. Wayne loves to get right into everything, running off with his toys to inspect them thoroughly. Shoes, socks, bags and pillows are also fair game according to Wayne. He happily stashes his treasures on his bed or in a little pile in his favourite spot outside.
Wayne is very fond of lots of close sniffing and licking of his surroundings, including his people and fellow pets. His cat housemates have decided they don't mind his very forward attempts at friendship, letting him follow them around or giving them very enthusiastic licks when they are trying to sleep. When they've had enough a hiss or growl and Wayne gets the memo.
Upon arriving into foster care we noticed that Wayne had the most gorgeous big shiny eyes. After realising this fetching feature wasn't the norm for a greyhound it was determined that Wayne has a condition called Progressive Retinal Atrophy. This means that Wayne is gradually losing his eyesight. There is no treatment for PRA and it isn't painful. Most dogs with this condition cope very well with their slow vision loss. Knowing that Wayne will lose his sight, we are looking for a special home for him with another similar aged medium to large dog who Wayne can bond with closely and trust. Wayne is a friendly boy who currently lives with 2 cats and another greyhound. He needs a home without young children, and adults who are happy to adapt to any additional needs as his sight declines.
Wayne is a happy and very playful boy who doesn't let much slow him down. He loves everyone and can't wait to find his perfect family. Apply for Wayne today.

Adoption details
Our greyhounds live in foster homes until they find their adoption home. This introduces them to pet life, toilet-training and they learn how to behave inside the home as well as all the new experiences they get on their daily walks. Many spend time in a home with another dog, children and a few sometimes with a cat.
As a safety net for greyhounds who may not otherwise have a chance at finding a forever home, we do our very best to find the right home to match our greyhounds' needs. If you are interested in Greyhound Adoption or Greyhound Fostering, please complete our On-line Application to help us understand more about you and recommend whether the dog you are applying for matches your lifestyle.
