My Ideal Home:
• I'll need daily exercise - walks, park or beach trips, and playtime in the backyard will keep me happy and healthy.
• Ongoing training and guidance with basic manners will help me grow into a well-behaved companion.
• I want to be part of the family indoors - not left outside without interaction.
• Secure fencing (6ft Colorbond/no gaps, holes or areas my tiny body could squeeze through) is essential to keep me safe.
• I'd love plenty of toys and mental enrichment to keep my busy mind occupied.
• A good-quality dry food diet will help support my dental health.
• Regular grooming and brushing will keep me looking and feeling my best - Super important for my breed!
• Most importantly, I'm looking for lots of love and attention from my family.
• I'm used to a quiet, mature household and would love a similar environment.
• Because I may have had a sheltered start and can be shy in new situations, continued socialisation will really help build my confidence. I'm already becoming braver at the shelter!
• I’m happy to socialise with other calm dogs – big or boisterous dogs do scare me though.
• With a slow and thoughtful introduction, I may be able to live with a cat.
• I can be a bit anxious and howl when left alone, so either someone who will take me with them while running errands or a calm, friendly doggy companion to keep me company while you are out.

My Paw-some Perks:
• I'm a very playful, happy pup with the cutest little wiggle-butt when I'm excited.
• I'm highly food motivated, which makes training lots of fun and helps me learn quickly.
• I'm gentle and placid in nature, and I've had some basic obedience training - I'm generally a well-mannered dog.
• I absolutely love attention, cuddles, hugs, kisses and head scratches, and I'm quite partial to snoozing on the couch with my humans.
• As long as I’m with my family, I am a happy little man

Training/Support Needs:
• I don't appear to be housetrained yet, so I'll need guidance and consistency to learn.

Please Note: You'll only be able to meet Bernard if your application is approved. Successful applicants will be invited to the shelter for a meet-and-greet, and any dogs currently in the home must attend as well

PLEASE NOTE: Shelter staff make the final decision based on determining if the applicant can meet the animals needs (lifestyle, home environment, experience) Our goal is to ensure a permanent home that sets both the animal and new family up for success.
Shelter staff reserve the right to deny an adoption if they determine the animal's specific needs do not match the applicant's lifestyle.
