About Luda
Luda spent more than a year in a shelter, watching families walk past his kennel — overlooked, like so many black dogs are. For a boy who lives for people, it was a hard place to be. Then his person walked in, and it was love at first sight on both sides. He has never looked back.
Luda now needs a new family through no fault of his own. His family is moving to Germany in February to care for a seriously ill family member, and he can’t go with them. Letting him go is heartbreaking.
These days you’ll usually find Luda upside down on the couch, paws in the air, waiting for a belly rub. That is his very favourite thing in the world, closely followed by a game of paw.
Luda adores people. He greets everyone with a wagging tail and a few kisses. He does get a little overexcited when new visitors arrive, because in his heart he’s a lap-sized chihuahua, not a 23 kg Staffy. But it all comes from love.
He’s an easy, settled boy at home. A long walk of about 45 minutes in the morning, then he’s happy to snooze the day away. His family works from home three days a week, and he’s perfectly fine on his own on office days, as long as he gets a walk and plenty of cuddles when you get home. He’s house-trained, quiet and comfortable in an apartment.
He’s also a seasoned road-tripper: he heads up to Queensland with his family three times a year and is happy as can be in the car. He knows sit, down, stay, come and paw.
Luda is relaxed on lead with other dogs and animals around on his walks, but at home he’d love to be the one and only. He’s a people dog through and through, and he wants all the cuddles to himself. His ideal family would be home some of the time, love a couch cuddle as much as he does, and be ready to give a gentle, affectionate older boy the soft landing he deserves.
Luda is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped, and will stay with his family until he finds his new home.
