💕 🐾 MEET BRODIE – YOUR ULTIMATE COUCH COMPANION & BALL CATCHER! 🐾💕
Almost 6-year-old Brodie is a sweet, affectionate Cavoodle looking for a calm, predictable home where she can feel safe and be your devoted little shadow. Brodie is happiest at home with her person. She’s intelligent, gentle and wonderfully well behaved in her safe environment. She loves being close to her people, whether you're working from home, relaxing on the couch or simply going about your day. She’s well toilet trained, sleeps happily in her own bed throughout the night, jumping up in your bed for cuddles in the morning. Her absolute favourite activity is catch 🎾, and she’s pretty good at it too. A secure backyard where she can chase her ball would be ideal.
🌿 UNDERSTANDING BRODIE Brodie is a sensitive girl, and while she is beautifully settled at home, the outside world can sometimes feel overwhelming. Her anxiety is particularly connected to personal space and feeling trapped or crowded. When unfamiliar people, children or dogs come too close, move towards her or enter her personal space unexpectedly, she can become frightened and react by barking, growling or lunging. These behaviours aren't Brodie being “naughty” or difficult — they are her way of communicating “I’m uncomfortable, I need more space.” When she has enough distance and feels safe, she is much better able to remain calm. This means Brodie needs people who understand her body language and can recognise when she is becoming uncomfortable before she reaches the point of reacting. Her environment will need to be managed thoughtfully so she isn't repeatedly placed in situations that are too much for her. Brodie isn't the dog who will happily accompany you to busy cafés, markets, dog parks or crowded social events — and that's perfectly okay. She doesn't need a busy life to be happy. She needs a life where she feels safe, understood and able to relax.
💛 WHAT BRODIE NEEDS: Her ideal home would offer: 🏡 A quieter, low-traffic environment where life is calm and predictable 🌳 A secure fenced yard for exploring, relaxing and playing her favourite game of catch 🕰️ A predictable, homebody lifestyle 🐶 No other pets — Brodie needs to be the only pet in the household 👨👩👧 No young children; dog-savvy older children may be considered 🚪 Careful visitor management, with visitors respecting her need for space rather than expecting her to greet them 🧠 Plenty of enrichment such as Kongs, scent games and food puzzles 💕 Someone who genuinely enjoys a quieter lifestyle and having a loving companion by their side Most importantly, Brodie needs an adopter committed to a fear-free, force-free approach. Punishment, confrontation, flooding or deliberately putting her close to triggers so she can “get used to them” are not appropriate for her. Her adopter will need to understand that her anxiety and reactivity require ongoing management and compassionate behaviour modification and be prepared to work on this, possibly with an appropriately qualified behaviour professional and veterinary team, understanding that progress may be gradual.
🐾 COULD YOU BE BRODIE'S PERSON? Brodie doesn't need someone who thinks they can “fix” her with love alone. She needs someone who will understand her, respect her boundaries, protect her from situations she cannot cope with and make her emotional wellbeing a genuine priority. In return, you'll have a devoted little shadow who is perfectly happy to keep you company while you work, curl up beside you on the couch, solve a food puzzle, chase a ball around the backyard and remind you that life can be pretty wonderful when you're exactly where you feel safe.
❤️ Brodie has a lot of love to give. She just needs the right person to help her feel safe enough to give it. 🐾

🚨 MEDICAL NOTES - PLEASE READ 🚨
Brodie has pancreatitis. Her first episode was reported from her original owner in 18/06/2026 then again in September 26. Since she has been in foster care she hasn't had any flare ups, she has been kept on low fat diet including her specific kibble and cooked chicken or low fat meat (turkey).
🚨 BEHAVIOURAL NOTES - PLEASE READ 🚨
Brodie has shown signs of resource guarding with high value food items (chews that take her a while to get through and she tries to guard).
She is baseline nervous and needs someone who will help her in a compassionate way to work on her anxiety and feel safe so her reactions reduce.
She can be timid with some adults, but is very nervous around children and some dogs and very spatially reactive - She space guards her own space when she is in unfamiliar areas. She can show signs of fear aggression when people / animals come into her space.
