About Josie
Josie is ready for adoption and we are so proud of her progress 🥹🩷🙌
Josie is a beautiful, sensitive soul with so much love to give to the right person. When she first came into our care, she was incredibly fearful—retreating, running, and cowering whenever we tried to reach out to her.
Fast forward to today, and Josie has made incredible progress! She now regularly approaches the people she trusts for affection. While she still gets startled by fast movements, she always has a gentle, wagging tail waiting for you. 🥰
What Josie loves:
• 🧸 Toys: Especially the ones that make noise!
• 🐾 Dog friends: She loves to play with other pups.
• 🚜 Farm life: Fetching sticks in the dam and running alongside the farm buggy at our sanctuary are some of her favourite activities.
Kids & Cats:
Josie is good with children who understand how to respect her boundaries and give her space when she needs it. When it comes to cats, she is a bit obsessed! If her future home has a resident feline, they will need to be very tolerant and playful, or confident enough to put her in her place. Josie thinks running cats are playing a big game of chase, so a home without a "runner" is a must!
Training & Walking:
She walks beautifully on a lead, though she can still get a nervous when encountering new things. She already knows "out" and "leave", but traditional commands like sit, drop, and stay are still a work in progress.
Diet & Health:
Josie arrived very underweight and struggled to gain weight, so she is currently on a special sensitive diet. The hope is to try a food elimination diet down the track to pinpoint her exact triggers.
Her Perfect Match:
Josie needs a special, patient human who will give her the time she needs to settle in and learn to trust. She has a gorgeous soul and, with a little time, will make a fiercely loyal and beautiful family member.
Josie is also a medium energy dog and will need daily walks and stimulation. She also requires a home with 6 foot fences, to keep her nice and safe!
