About Devon
Devon is a gentle boy who is still learning that people can be safe.
He arrived with us as a stray with no identification, already dealing with an injured leg and a completely unfamiliar environment, so it's no surprise that his first response was to make himself small, stay tucked away and quietly watch everything happening around him.
What's been really encouraging is how much Devon softens when things are kept slow and predictable. Food is a great way to start earning his trust, and once he's had a moment to settle, he'll lean into gentle scratches and has even started moving forward for pats from a hand. He's still cautious, but there's a clear difference between a cat who wants to avoid people altogether and Devon, who seems interested in getting closer once he feels safe enough.
Devon will need a quiet home with someone who understands that trust might come in small steps. Let him settle, give him a safe place to retreat, and use treats and gentle interaction to show him that people can be something good. Those little moments of leaning in and choosing to stay close are already telling us that there's a sweet boy underneath the nerves.
Devon is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Devon - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
