About Clyde
Please only apply for this greyhound if you have:
- Spend time at home as much as you are out or have a medium/large doggie companion for Clyde
- Children over 8 years
- A small yard for zoomies
Clyde is a beautiful boy with a gentle nature and a heart that is discovering just how lovely life as a loved family pet can be. He is learning that home is a place where he can relax, feel safe and enjoy the little things. These days, he is happiest snoozing in whichever room his humans happen to be in.
At heart, Clyde is a laid-back kind of guy who is more than happy to spend his days snoozing and enjoying the good life. But don't let that fool you! Bring out a ball, especially a big one, and his playful side comes to life. He might not quite understand the rules of fetch yet, but he is very enthusiastic about chasing a ball around the yard and will happily throw in some zoomies for good measure.
Clyde has a particularly adorable way of asking for more belly rubs. When he gets into a playful mood, give his belly a pat and, when you stop, he may rub his face around playfully to let you know that your services are not quite finished. It's hard not to smile at him!
Clyde loves his walkies, and the sight of his lead is enough to get him excited. We are working on helping him stay calm while getting his harness and lead on, but once he's out and about, he's a lovely walking companion. He doesn't pull, preferring to take his time sniffing every inch of this big, exciting world. Around 20 minutes of walking is enough to leave him happily tuckered out and ready to head home for a well-earned nap.
Busy roads, noisy trucks and barking dogs don't seem to bother Clyde on his walks. He's happy to carry on with his important sniffing duties, taking the world in his own stride.
Clyde has been wonderful with the people he has met and including children (currently Clyde has only met his foster family kids and neighbours, all over the age of 10). He has a beautiful, gentle nature and is a lovely boy to have around. He is friendly with dogs he meets, too, and could potentially share his home with another calm, friendly dog who won't try to boss him around. Alternatively, Clyde may be quite happy as an only dog, soaking up all the love and attention for himself.
At home, Clyde is calm and relaxed. He enjoys affection and being close to his people, but is also comfortable having his own space. He has that lovely balance of being happy to keep you company without needing to be the centre of attention every minute of the day.
His ability to cope when left home alone is also something we haven't had the opportunity to test yet, and his car travel experience is still to be explored.
A home with a small yard where Clyde has room for the occasional burst of zoomies would be ideal. Someone who works from home could be a wonderful match for him, offering company and helping him continue to settle into family life.
If you're looking for a sweet, easygoing companion who will happily join you for a walk, make you laugh with his silly little ways and then curl up nearby while you relax, Clyde might just be your guy.
He's learning all about the good life, and he can't wait to find his very own people to share it with. 💙
