About Harley
Harley is a big, energetic boy with a clever head on his shoulders and plenty of enthusiasm for life.
He already knows sit and shake, loves getting involved in what's going on around him and has been friendly with the people he's met since arriving with us as a stray.
He's generally quite easy to walk on lead, although exciting sights and sounds can sometimes grab his attention. Harley can be a little unsure with handling and harnessing, so his new family should take those moments slowly and pair them with treats and praise to help him feel more confident.
Harley may be suitable to live with another well matched dog following a successful meet and greet. He can become excited when seeing other dogs, but he has shown that he can read and respond appropriately, so gradual, positive introductions will be important. He is suited to a home with secondary school aged children or older.
Medically, Harley is doing well. He has only mild Grade 1 dental disease, which doesn't require surgery and can be supported with regular dental home care. As a larger breed dog, keeping him lean and focusing on regular low-impact exercise will also help support his joints long term.
Harley is a smart, lively boy with lots of potential and a fun personality to match. No appointment is needed, so come and visit him at our North Melbourne shelter. If you're interested in adopting Harley, our team can arrange a meet and greet. If you have children or another dog at home, please bring them along so they can meet him too.
