About Powder
Powder is a fluffy little cloud with plenty of personality underneath all that white fur.
This gorgeous Japanese Spitz arrived with us as a stray and, despite finding shelter life a little overwhelming at times, he's shown himself to be a friendly, excitable boy who enjoys being around people.
Powder will benefit from a calm, gentle approach while he gets to know his new family. Taking handling slowly, pairing it with treats and praise, and gradually introducing him to new people and environments will help build his confidence. He'll also do best with positive, force-free training so learning new things stays fun and rewarding.
Powder needs to be the only dog in his new home. He can still continue building confidence around other dogs through gradual, positive experiences while out and about, but at home he'll be happiest having his space and his people to himself. He is suited to a home with secondary school aged children or older.
Powder also has some dental disease. He doesn't need dental surgery right now, but treatment is likely to be needed within approximately 6-12 months after adoption. In the meantime, regular dental home care such as tooth brushing, dental diets or appropriate dental treats will help support his teeth, and our team can explain his dental needs before adoption.
If you're looking for a cute, fluffy companion with lots of character who can enjoy being the centre of attention at home, Powder would love to meet you.
No appointment is needed, so come and visit him at our North Melbourne shelter. If you're interested in adopting Powder, our team can arrange a meet and greet, and if you have children at home, please bring them along to meet him too.
