About Aisha
Aisha has come a long way from the overwhelmed little girl who first arrived at the shelter.
At only ten months old, she was surrendered after her owner had to move, and suddenly finding herself somewhere completely unfamiliar was understandably a lot to process.
At first Aisha preferred to hide away and could become overwhelmed by too much handling, but with gentle, predictable interactions, her affectionate side has really started to emerge. Speak softly to her and she'll start kneading away, and once she feels comfortable she has been known to head bunt your hand, lean heavily into pats and purr. She's even reached the point where her confidence and behaviour have improved significantly in our care.
Aisha will still appreciate a quieter home and a safe room to settle into when she first arrives. She does best with people who pay attention to her body language, let her choose when she's ready for interaction and keep handling gentle and consent-based. At such a young age, she has so much time ahead of her to continue building confidence and enjoying all the comfort and security of home life.
There is a really sweet little cat underneath Aisha's initial uncertainty, and she's already showing us more of her with every bit of trust she gains.
Aisha is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Aisha - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
