About Mason
Meet Mason!
Mason is an active, playful boy who is looking for a committed family that can dedicate plenty of time to him and continue helping him grow into a well-mannered companion. He loves spending time with his people and would thrive in a home where he is included as part of the family and able to enjoy plenty of interaction and companionship.
Mason would benefit from being allowed indoors so he can spend quality time with his family. Crate training or station training may also be beneficial, providing him with a safe and comfortable space where he can relax and learn to settle when needed.
Like many young and enthusiastic dogs, Mason can become overexcited during play and may respond by jumping up or becoming mouthy. Because of this, play sessions should remain calm and structured, with clear beginnings and endings to help him learn appropriate ways to interact. His new family will need to focus on rewarding calm behaviours while consistently redirecting unwanted behaviours in a positive way.
Mason is a clever boy who will thrive with ongoing training and guidance. Consistency from all members of the household will be important to help him understand expectations and set him up for long-term success. Positive reinforcement training will not only help him learn manners and impulse control but will also strengthen the bond he shares with his family.
As an active dog, Mason will require daily physical exercise as well as plenty of mental stimulation. At the shelter, his meals are provided through food-based enrichment, and this is something we strongly recommend continuing in his new home. Enrichment activities such as Kongs, wobblers, snuffle boxes, food puzzles, lickimats, milk bottles, and egg cartons are excellent ways to keep his mind busy and provide productive outlets for his energy, particularly during times when he may become more excited.
Mason is a lovable boy with a fun personality and plenty of affection to give. He has all the makings of a wonderful family companion for adopters who are willing to invest the time and consistency needed to help him reach his full potential.
Mason would be best suited to a home with teenagers, as all members of the family will need to be actively involved in his ongoing training and development.
He must meet any resident dogs prior to adoption. While Mason can become a little frustrated if introductions take too long, he has generally shown himself to be social and tolerant with other dogs during his time in shelter. He has successfully met a variety of dogs and has demonstrated an ability to adjust his play style and interactions to suit the other dog's personality, making him a potentially suitable companion for the right canine friend.
