About Nova
Hi, I’m Nova.
I’m an affectionate, clever girl who loves being part of the family. I’ve grown up around five children and another dog, and once I’ve settled down I’m a gentle, fairly laid-back girl who is just as happy snoozing nearby as I am joining in on some fun.
I can be very excited when meeting new people, so I do best with someone who can give me clear, confident boundaries. I’ve completed puppy school, basic obedience training and large-field socialisation with Redefine Canine, and I’ve shown that I’m very intelligent and highly trainable. I know how to sit patiently and wait for the “okay” before eating, and I can walk nicely on lead with a confident handler.
I’m regularly socialised around other dogs and I’m continuing to learn good doggy manners. I live happily with another dog, although I can be a little assertive and sometimes want the attention all to myself. Because of this, I might be happiest as the only dog in the home, or with an owner who understands dog behaviour and can manage introductions and boundaries properly.
Despite my energy when I first get excited, I’m actually pretty lazy most of the time. I tend to potter around, lie in the yard and take life at my own pace. Even when I get the chance for a good run, I’m more of a slow meanderer than a speed demon. I’d love a home where I can have regular exercise, plenty of attention and ideally a little more room to explore.
I’ve also lived around chickens and am quite happy to let them wander around me without bothering them.
At home, I love pats and being close to my people. I even have my own quirky way of saying good morning by gently mouthing an arm, although my family has been teaching me that there are better ways to say hello. At night I settle beautifully and can happily sleep in my own designated area indoors.
Like many dogs, I do have a few things that get me excited. I have a rather impressive high-pitched bark when I’m playing, and I’m definitely not a fan of the postie bike. Although when I once slipped through an unlatched gate to investigate the postie, my grand response was to run up and give them a lick.
My ideal home would be with someone confident, consistent and affectionate who is happy to keep up my training and give me plenty of attention. I’d love a home where I can be included in family life, enjoy some space and exercise, and then spend the rest of the day doing what I do best: relaxing near my people.
If you’re looking for a smart, loyal girl with plenty of personality and a wonderfully goofy sit, I might just be your Nova.
