About Duke: King Of The Vampires
Meet Duke, our very handsome little vampire who has traded his dark, cosy hiding spots for a life filled with cuddles, pats, and plenty of human companionship.
When Duke first arrived in his foster home, he was a little cautious about his new surroundings. Like any respectable vampire, he preferred to spend his first few days tucked away in dark, cosy places, quietly observing the world from his secret lair. But there was one very important clue that this little vampire was already feeling safe: from his very first day, Duke would happily purr whenever his foster family approached him or gave him pats.
It didn't take long for Duke to emerge from the shadows. By around day four or five, he was confidently exploring the house, and after about a week, he had settled in completely. Once he realised his new surroundings were safe, his sweet and affectionate personality really began to shine.
These days, Duke is much more interested in following his humans around than hiding from them. He loves being part of the household and will often quietly follow his people from room to room or sit nearby and watch whatever they're getting up to. He's a wonderful little shadow who simply enjoys being in the company of his favourite humans.
Mornings are particularly special to Duke. Once the sun is up and the household is stirring, he likes to make his way onto the bed to request his morning pats. When everyone settles down on the couch, Duke is never far away. He'll happily curl up beside you, either at your feet or right there on the couch, content simply to be close.
And if you've been out for a while, expect a proper welcome home. Duke will greet you with his sweet little meows, as though he's been waiting patiently for his favourite humans to return. He may have started life hiding in the shadows, but these days he certainly doesn't want to miss out on anything.
Duke absolutely loves his pats and is very good at making sure you know when he wants more. He'll gently nudge your hand with his head, giving you the unmistakable message that the royal patting service should continue immediately. He's incredibly trusting when he's receiving affection and will even roll over to show you his belly. He's comfortable having his belly and paws touched, which is a wonderful sign of just how much trust he has developed.
There is one important rule in Duke's kingdom, however: all four paws must remain firmly on the ground. While he adores pats, Duke does not enjoy being picked up and will quickly make his escape if someone tries. He much prefers choosing where he wants to be and receiving affection on his own terms. Respect his boundaries and he'll happily reward you with purrs, head nudges, belly rolls, and plenty of companionship.
And of course, we have to explain the name. When Duke first arrived, he was rather fond of hiding away and relaxing in dark places, earning himself the nickname of a little vampire. But thankfully, this vampire has since discovered that humans are much more enjoyable than the shadows, especially when those humans come equipped with pats.
These days, Duke may still appreciate a cosy hideaway from time to time, but his favourite place is increasingly wherever his people are. He has gone from mysterious creature of the night to affectionate little shadow, following his humans around and making himself comfortable wherever they happen to be.
If you're looking for a loving companion who will quietly follow you through your day, greet you when you come home, snuggle beside you on the couch, and enthusiastically request pats, Duke could be your perfect match.
He may have started out as a little vampire hiding in the darkness, but Duke is now ready to step fully into the light and find his forever home. Just remember, he's not after your blood. He's after your pats!
