About Kira
Kira is a gentle young girl who is starting to realise that people might actually be worth trusting.
Shelter life has been a lot for her, and when she feels overwhelmed she can become very watchful, tuck herself away or quietly look for somewhere safer to be. But underneath those nerves, Kira has already been showing some really lovely signs of connection.
With a calm approach and a little time, she begins to soften. She has leaned into handling, given little head bunts and shown that she can enjoy gentle interaction once she feels comfortable. She may still give the occasional warning hiss or flinch if something surprises her, but her overall progress has been encouraging and she is showing more and more positive behaviour towards people.
At only eight months old, Kira is still incredibly young and has plenty of time to keep building confidence. She would suit a quieter home where she can settle at her own pace, with people who are happy to let her make the first move and celebrate those small moments of trust. She has also shown some positive interest in other cats, so she may enjoy the presence of a calm, well matched feline companion with careful introductions.
Kira is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Kira - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
