About Bess
Hello there! I’m Bess, and I’m officially accepting applications for my forever family.

My Ideal Home:
• I’ll need daily exercise — walks, park or beach trips, and playtime in the backyard will keep me happy and healthy.
• Ongoing training and guidance with basic manners will help me grow into a well-behaved companion.
• I want to be part of the family indoors — not left outside without interaction.
• Secure fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent) is essential to keep me safe.
• I’d love plenty of toys and mental enrichment to keep my busy mind occupied.
• A good-quality dry food diet will help support my dental health.
• Regular grooming and brushing will keep me looking and feeling my best.
• Most importantly, I’m looking for lots of love and attention from my family.
• When I get excited, I can be a little bouncy, so any children in the home would need to feel comfortable and confident around an enthusiastic dog joining the family.
• I’m looking for a family who will cherish and care for me throughout my golden years.
• I need a doggy companion to keep me company when my family isn’t home, or a household where someone is around most of the time. I can feel lonely and a little anxious when left alone, which may lead to barking or destructive behaviour; a calm, gentle dog would suit me best.
• A home without cats would be best for me, as I’m likely to chase them.
My Paw-some Perks:
• I’m a very playful, happy pup with the cutest little wiggle-butt when I’m excited.
• I’m highly food motivated, which makes training lots of fun and helps me learn quickly
• I walk nicely on lead for a young dog, and with daily walks I’ll only keep improving
• I’m very social and happy to hang out with other friendly dogs — total social butterfly!
• I LOVE toys — especially squeaky toys!!!! Fetch and tug-of-war are my favourite games.
• Once we are familiar with each other, I enjoy attention, cuddles, and head scratches, as long as I have my toys can join us.
Training/Support Needs:
• I haven’t had any formal training yet, so I’ll need help with all my basic manners and life skills. The good news is I love food and toys, which will make positive training lots of fun and rewarding for me.
• I don't appear to be housetrained yet, so I’ll need guidance and consistency to learn.
Medical: Bladder stones were removed during her desexing procedure (7/10/26). We are currently awaiting test results, which may take around 3 weeks, to determine the type of stones and any ongoing treatment or dietary requirements. She will require a quality urinary diet long-term, along with regular veterinary check-ups to help prevent future issues.
Please Note: You’ll only be able to meet Bess if your application is approved. Successful applicants will be invited to the shelter for a meet-and-greet, and any dogs currently in the home must attend as well
PLEASE NOTE: Shelter staff make the final decision based on determining if the applicant can meet the animals needs (lifestyle, home environment, experience) Our goal is to ensure a permanent home that sets both the animal and new family up for success.
Shelter staff reserve the right to deny an adoption if they determine the animal's specific needs do not match the applicant's lifestyle.
