⠀
Buddy and Biggles are a beautiful bonded pair who have come into care very reluctantly due to ageing in their family. They have clearly been much-loved dogs and are lovely, well-socialised boys who will be adopted together.
⠀
And a definite bonus — neither boy sheds!
⠀
They have settled into foster care extremely well and are affectionate, friendly and well behaved. They are very dog-friendly and have been particularly lovely with the resident puppies.
⠀
🐶 BIGGLES
⠀
Biggles is affectionate, outgoing and loves climbing onto a lap for a cuddle — so be prepared to make room for a fairly substantial lapdog!
⠀
He can be a little strong on the lead when excited, but we suspect he may simply not have had a great deal of previous leash experience. He is responsive to his humans and eager to please, so with patient, consistent handling we expect his leash manners to improve.
⠀
Biggles is also carrying a little extra weight at present, so regular walks and sensible portion control will do him no harm.
⠀
🤍 BUDDY
⠀
Buddy is the younger and gentler of the two and is an exceptionally sweet, friendly dog.
⠀
Having said that, he is also a confident boy with lovely dog manners. According to his besotted foster mum, he would be a delightful addition to any home.
⠀
His foster family describes him simply as “gorgeous”.
⠀
🐾 TOGETHER
⠀
Buddy and Biggles are clearly very comfortable in one another’s company and make a lovely pair.
⠀
They love going in the car and have been cooperative and easy to handle, including at the groomers.
⠀
They may not have a long list of formal commands, but they are responsive to their people and eager to please. A good example came when they barked at pedestrians passing the front fence. Their foster mum called them away, told them “no”, and both stopped.
⠀
That responsiveness and willingness to listen is very encouraging as they settle into a new home and routine.
⠀
🧬 ABOUT THEIR BREEDS
⠀
Buddy is a Cavoodle and Biggles a Spoodle — both Poodle crosses generally known for being affectionate, intelligent and people-oriented companion dogs. Their personalities certainly fit that description.
⠀
🐱 CATS AND OTHER ANIMALS
⠀
Buddy and Biggles have shown no interest whatsoever in the cats they can see in the catio at their foster home, which is encouraging.
⠀
On that basis, we think they may potentially be able to live with a cat, although any introduction would need to be careful, controlled and gradual.
⠀
They are not suitable for a home with pet birds.
⠀
🏡 THEIR IDEAL HOME
⠀
Buddy and Biggles would suit a home where they will be very much part of the family. We think they would be particularly well suited to a family with older children, and as always, good secure fencing is required to keep them safe.
⠀
These are two genuinely lovely dogs who have lost the home they knew through no fault of their own. What they need now is a family prepared to welcome them together and give them the security, companionship and affection they have always known.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
HEARTWORM INFORMATION
Heartworm disease is uncommon in the Southern Downs, so ARK does not routinely heartworm test or administer heartworm prevention to dogs in our care. Should a successful applicant wish to have a heartworm test performed before adoption, we are happy to arrange this.
