About Fireman Sam
Introducing Fireman Sam!
Fireman Sam is a Shar Pei x born approx 3rd April 2025.
Sam was brought to the facility as an unmicrochipped stray after being found roaming a local fire trail. Sadly no one came looking for this sweet boy.
Since being at the facility Fireman Sam has been a very sweet boy, incredibly good looking, very photogentic, very gentle when taking treats, he's been a food hoover, a ladies man and an all-round beautiful boy. Two things we've noticed that he doesn't like, are having his back legs/feet touched and he gets very fidgety when you try to look at his teeth/in his mouth, however no aggression has been seen from him.
Fireman Sam tested quite well with other dogs. He met large, small, male & female dogs and he got along well with everyone. Sam did bark at a large, boisterous Bull Terrier after they jumped on his back, but he quickly moved on and continued with the happy interaction. We believe Fireman Sam would be suitable to live with another dog or be the spoilt only "child" at home. If you have a friendly dog at home we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Unfortunately Sam isn't good with cats & will need a cat-free home.
Fireman Sam appeared unfazed by our resident roosters. We believe he could be suitable to live with caged pocket pets, if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
Fireman Sam has shown no signs of food aggression since being at the facility, however he has shown signs of separation anxiety. When left alone in his kennel, Sam has a tendency to whine & bark. We have found he is more settled in the exercise yard than in his kennel, but we believe he will need a family who can be with him more often than not. Given his love of being near people & not wanting to be alone, we don't believe he would be suitable as a strictly outdoor dog, unless he has another canine friend for company.
If you think you could be that furever family for Fireman Sam, please contact our friendly staff via email at ccacfpetadoptions@gmail.com or 0499 900272 to organise a meet and greet.
Sam’s adoption fee is $500, and this includes his desexing, vaccination and lifetime registration. Sam is also regularly treated for fleas and worms.
*Please note Fireman Sam is booked for desexing on Wednesday 14th October. He will not be able to go to his new home until Thursday 15th October.
Fireman Sam is currently located in East Maitland.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
