About Miya
Miya is a lovely senior Husky who is ready for a softer, more settled chapter after arriving with us as a stray.
At eleven years old, she's understandably a little more cautious about everything happening around her, and the shelter can be a lot to take in. Even so, she's shown us that she is a friendly girl who just appreciates being approached with a bit of patience and understanding.
Miya does best when people take things slowly, especially with handling. Giving her time to feel comfortable, pairing gentle handling with treats, and rewarding the behaviours you want to see will help her build confidence and trust. She'll benefit from calm, force-free training and a home where she can settle into a predictable routine without being rushed.
She is suitable for a home with secondary school aged children or older and may be suitable to live with another well matched dog following a successful meet and greet. Because Miya is now eleven, one of our vets will also have a chat with her adopter before adoption about her age and any ongoing care to keep her comfortable and happy.
Miya may be a senior girl, but she still deserves all the love, security and companionship of a home of her own. No appointment is needed, so come and visit her at our North Melbourne shelter. If you're interested in adopting Miya, our team can arrange a meet and greet. If you have children or another dog at home, please bring them along so they can meet her too.
