About Maggie May
Maggie May is a friendly, easygoing Staffy who has been making a lovely impression since arriving with us as a stray.
She's relaxed when meeting new people, walks nicely on lead around the shelter and is comfortable with everyday handling and having her harness put on.
She's also shown some nice social skills around other dogs during her assessment, so Maggie May may be suitable to live with a well matched dog following a successful meet and greet. She is suited to a home with primary school aged children or older, making her a lovely option for a family looking for a friendly adult dog without all the chaos of puppyhood.
Maggie May will benefit from continued force-free, reward-based training in her new home. That means celebrating the behaviours you want with treats, praise and attention, while calmly redirecting or ignoring unwanted behaviours rather than using punishment. It's a great way to keep building trust while helping her learn what's expected of her.
After arriving without a family to call her own, Maggie May is ready to swap shelter life for somewhere she can properly settle in and belong.
No appointment is needed, so come and visit her at our North Melbourne shelter. If you're interested in adopting Maggie May, our team can arrange a meet and greet. If you have children or another dog at home, please bring them along so they can meet her too.
