Rex

Rex is a sweet, deeply affectionate Border Collie who is looking for a patient, understanding family to help him blossom at his own pace. While he can be anxious in new environments and startles easily with loud noises or fast movements, this lovely boy transforms into a wonderfully loyal companion once he feels safe and secure. He requires indoor and outdoor access to truly feel like part of the family, and he will benefit greatly from a dedicated crate or cozy denning area where he can go to decompress when overwhelmed. His new adopters will need to be home with him initially to help him settle in, focusing on slow, positive handling, practicing touch consent, and teaching him some polite door manners. Rex absolutely loves his toys—especially tennis balls and soft plushies—which will be a fantastic tool for playtime and building his confidence. He is best suited to a home with mature teenagers who understand canine body language, and while he can be nervous around new dogs after parting from a closely bonded shelter friend, he would thrive alongside a calm, social doggy companion who is happy to peacefully co-exist without being all in his face.
