About Poppy
*This animal is currently at a foster home and not at the shelter*
Hello world! I’m Poppy, a friendly and confident Kelpie pup with a big personality and lots of love to give!
I’m a social girl who loves being around people and enjoying plenty of playtime. I’m curious, playful and energetic, and I absolutely love a good cuddle — although, like many Kelpies, I do prefer affection on my own terms.
My herding and chasing instincts are strong, which is typical of my breed. I have a busy mind and will need plenty of appropriate enrichment, exercise and activities to keep me both mentally and physically occupied. Training will be an important part of my life, and I’ll thrive with someone who can provide consistency, structure and positive guidance.
I’m very social with other dogs, but I’m also learning that having some quiet time and being able to settle independently is a good thing. Helping me learn to relax on my own will be an important part of my training. I’m still working on my manners, and I have a particular talent for destroying soft squeaky toys! Durable toys and supervised playtime will definitely be best for me.
I can be highly strung and have lots of energy, but once I’m calm, I’m a very loving, affectionate and pleasant girl to have around. I’m a beautiful pup with a wonderful personality I would benefit from someone who understands Kelpie instincts and is prepared to put the time, patience and effort into helping me succeed.
Could you be the person who helps me grow into the wonderful girl I’m meant to be?
