About Tanner
Tanner is a sensitive, young pup who is looking for a patient, understanding family to help him find his feet and show him how beautiful the world can be. Having missed out on early socialisation and recently recovered from surgery to remove a swallowed corn cob, this worried boy needs an adopter who will take things very slowly and allow him indoor and outdoor access as a true part of the family. He will need a dedicated crate or denning area to retreat to when overwhelmed, alongside an owner committed to monitoring him around food and teaching him impulse control, basic manners, and a strong "leave it" cue. Tanner absolutely loves his food—knowing how to sit and follow a lure—so feeding him through brain-boosting enrichment puzzles will be fantastic for building a trusted bond. Leash walks are currently very scary for him, so his new family will need to advocate for his comfort by practicing entirely in the backyard and down the driveway before slowly progressing further. Tanner is best suited to a home with mature teenagers who can read his body language and help with training, and while he can be tense around other dogs, he could happily co-exist with a calm, social female dog after a slow, thorough introduction.
