About Goldie
Goldie is a big, happy Labrador with an equally big love for getting out and about.
He's been with his previous family since he was a puppy, so finding himself looking for a new home is a big change, but he's already showing us what a lovely, people-friendly boy he is. He's boisterous, cheerful, easy to handle and harness, and absolutely loves going for walks. He'll even happily carry the lead himself like he's ready to take charge of the outing.
Goldie is currently carrying a bit more weight than he should, so his new family will need to help him gradually slim down with a sensible feeding plan and regular exercise. Luckily, walks are one of his favourite things, so getting him moving shouldn't be too difficult once his routine is established.
Around people, Goldie is relaxed and friendly. He can be a little unsure around unfamiliar dogs, so he'll benefit from calm, positive introductions and reward-based training to help build his confidence. He may be suitable to live with another well matched dog following a successful meet and greet, and is suited to a home with secondary school aged children or older.
Goldie already has so many of the qualities people love in a Labrador: affectionate, enthusiastic, people-oriented and keen to be involved. With some gentle training, positive reinforcement and a healthier routine, he has all the makings of a wonderful family dog.
No appointment is needed, so come and visit Goldie at our North Melbourne shelter. If you're interested in adopting him, our team can arrange a meet and greet. If you have children or another dog at home, please bring them along so they can meet Goldie too.
