Meet Westy,
Westy can be a shy guy when you first meet him, and he can take a little time to cozy up to you – but this only takes about 5 minutes. Once intros are out of the way, please prepare yourself because this boy transforms into one seriously smoochy cat!
He’ll rub himself against anything within reach and dish out enthusiastic head butts to whatever part of you that happens to be closest. Arm? Head butt. Hand? Head butt. Face conveniently within range? Absolutely getting head butted.
Westy enjoys his food, and treats are a pretty reliable way of convincing him to come out and say hello. The only problem is that he hasn’t quite decided whether food or affection ranks higher on his list of favourite things - and frankly, he sees no reason he shouldn’t have both! Toys, on the other hand, haven’t impressed him just yet. He may discover his playful side once he’s settled into a home, but for now Westy seems perfectly content focusing his energy on snacks, pats and aggressive displays of affection.
Being a bigger boy, Westy would appreciate a generously sized litter tray with plenty of room to manoeuvre. Having multiple trays available while he settles into his new home would be a good idea and Westy’s litter tray manners have been exceptional.
A quieter home where Westy can settle in at his own pace would suit him beautifully, and even a first-time cat owner could be a great match if they’re happy to let him make the first move. Westy would prefer to be the only cat in his new home and if you have dogs, he’d possibly be ok with a calm dog who won’t expect him to play. Westy is looking for somewhere peaceful where he can take his time, settle in and eventually get down to the important business of head butting his new family at every available opportunity.

Post Adoption Life:
With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
