🐾 Meet Gazza — German Shorthaired Pointer Puppy

Hi, I’m Gazza! 🤎

I’m a beautiful 14-week-old German Shorthaired Pointer boy, with a gorgeous liver and roan coat, and I’m now ready to find the right home.

Out of my litter, I’m known as the calm one. I’m still a playful, curious GSP puppy, but I tend to be the more settled little man of the group.

I’m currently living in foster care with multiple dogs, so I’m accustomed to canine company and being part of a busy household. I’ve also got some fantastic foundations for my age — I’m crate trained and toilet trained.

But before you fall in love with my photos, my foster family wants you to think about something much more important: the adult dog I’m going to become.

🧠 I’m the calm one — but I’m still a GSP!

German Shorthaired Pointers are extremely intelligent, active working dogs. We were bred to work closely alongside our people, think, problem-solve and keep moving.

A big backyard and a walk each day aren’t necessarily enough for a GSP.

As I grow, I’ll need a combination of physical exercise, mental enrichment, ongoing training, structure and involvement in everyday family life. I could be a fantastic companion for people who enjoy hiking, running, exploring, scent work, retrieving, obedience, dog sports or other activities that give me an opportunity to use both my body and my brain.

I’ll also need to learn how to switch off and settle. Raising a good GSP isn’t about trying to exhaust them every day. It’s about teaching them to work, think, engage with their people and relax when it’s time to relax.

🏡 We will be particular about Gazza’s home

We aren’t looking for the application that simply tells us all the right things.

We’re looking for a lifestyle that demonstrates Gazza’s needs can realistically be met.

We want to know what your normal life actually looks like — your experience with dogs, what a typical weekday looks like, how long Gazza would routinely be alone, what you currently do with your dogs, what activities Gazza could genuinely participate in and what you expect life with an adolescent GSP to look like.

Previous GSP ownership isn’t essential, but applicants need to understand what comes with owning an intelligent, energetic working breed and be prepared for the commitment involved.

A large property isn’t automatically the best home. Gazza doesn’t simply need space — he needs engagement with his people.

And while he may be the calmest puppy in his litter, Gazza is not being advertised as a low-energy or low-maintenance dog. We want his home to be suitable for the adult German Shorthaired Pointer he will become, not simply the gorgeous puppy he is today.
