About Amber
Hello there! I'm Amber, and I'm officially accepting applications for my forever family.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR AMBER
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/3h4TmdKcW7uNvGVx9
Please Note: You'll only be able to meet Amber if your application is approved. Successful applicants will be invited to the shelter for a meet-and-greet, and any dogs currently in the home must attend as well
General:
• Previous experience with my breed is essential!
• I'll need daily exercise - walks, and playtime in the backyard will keep me happy and healthy, I am not able to go to dog parks/beaches ect and I will need an owner who is physically capable.
• Ongoing training and guidance with basic manners will help me grow into a well-behaved companion.
• I want to be part of the family indoors - not left outside without interaction.
• Secure fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent) is essential to keep me safe.
• I'd love plenty of toys and mental enrichment to keep my busy mind occupied.
• Regular grooming and brushing will keep me looking and feeling my best.
• Most importantly, I'm looking for lots of love and attention from my family.
• Because I can be shy in new situations, a home without kids is a must.
• Training, training, training - it's essential that I receive consistent guidance in every aspect of my life so I can become the very best companion as I mature.
• Because I may have had a sheltered start and can be shy in new situations, continued socialisation will really help build my confidence. I'm already becoming braver at the shelter!
Dog Compatibility:
• As I didn't have experience with other dogs before arriving at the shelter, I can be unsure how to behave around them. I'll need someone who is happy to work on this with me, I would highly benefit from impulse control training classes.
• I MUST be an only dog.
Cat / small animal:
• I'm not suited to homes with cats or small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, or ducks.
Perks:
• I'm gentle and placid in nature, and I've had some basic training - I'm generally a well-mannered dog. I know my basic commands like sit and shake, and I'm always eager to learn more.
• I absolutely love attention, cuddles, hugs, kisses and head scratches, and I'm quite partial to snoozing on the couch with my humans once I get to know you.
• I LOVE toys - especially my ball, stuffed teddies and squeaky toys!
• I would thrive with a family who'll continue my training and maybe even teach me some cool new tricks.
Training:
• I haven't had any formal training yet, so I'll need help with some basic manners and life skills. The good news is I love treats and toys, which will make positive training lots of fun and rewarding for me.
• I've only recently started learning to walk on lead at the shelter. I'm improving every day, but I can still be a little erratic and pully at times but with patience and regular walks, I'll soon gain confidence and enjoy my daily strolls.
• I'm shy when meeting new people and in unfamiliar environments, I'll need a patient family who will allow me indoors, move at my pace, and gently build my confidence through ongoing socialisation.
• I may initially shy away from things going over my head (like a lead), but I warm up quickly and my fun, lively personality soon shines through.
• A home where I can spend plenty of time indoors, have lots of company, and be provided with enrichment toys or treats when alone would suit me best as I sometimes get stressed when left alone for long periods.
