Lola

Hi, I’m Lola, a beautiful 7-year-old pedigree French Bulldog with papers, weighing around 15kg, and I’m looking for a special home to enjoy the next chapter of my life.

I’ve been very loved and well cared for by my family, but as their family has grown, they’ve realised that their home is no longer the best fit for me. I’m not particularly comfortable around babies and very young children, so I’m looking for a home with children aged 8 years and over, or an adult-only home where I can relax and soak up plenty of attention.

I’m a really loving, playful and affectionate girl who absolutely adores cuddles and snuggling up with my people. During the day I’m actually pretty lazy and you’ll usually find me lounging around or having a snooze. Come afternoon, I perk up and enjoy a 20-minute walk, some time outside or, one of my favourites, chasing a ball. At night, I love coming inside and curling up on the couch with my humans.

I’m also a girl who knows what she likes, food, walks, balls, cuddles and, believe it or not, baths! I’m incredibly tolerant when being handled and will happily let you check my ears and paws, give me medication or even dress me up. I’m a trusting little lady who has been accustomed to being very well cared for.

I’ve had behavioural training and know my basic commands. I can sit and stay for my food, stay on my bed when asked, and generally listen well to my humans. My lead manners are still a work in progress, though. I can pull when something exciting catches my attention, particularly another dog or cat, and I can become anxious around other dogs while I’m on lead.

I currently live with an older French Bulldog, and while we generally coexist, I can be the more dominant of the two and have shown some jealousy. We’ve also had a couple of disagreements around food, so we are always fed separately. I have happily spent time with other smaller dogs, but because it’s hard to know whether my jealousy might carry over into a new home, I would need a proper meet and greet with any potential doggy sibling. I’m not particularly comfortable with larger dogs, so a home without one would be best. I’d also be perfectly happy as your one and only dog, especially if you’re home a lot and have plenty of time to spend with me.

I should probably also confess that I’m a bit of a hunter and gatherer. I love heading into the backyard at night in search of lizards, and once I’ve spotted something worth chasing, I can be a very determined little Frenchie!

I’m currently taking anxiety medication, which was introduced after a young child joined my household. My family and vet believe I may no longer require this once I’m settled into a quieter, more suitable home, however any changes to my medication should be discussed with my new vet rather than stopped suddenly.

Health-wise, I’ve been well loved, regularly vetted and am in good general health. I have experienced urinary tract infections in the past, so I’m currently fed urinary tract kibble, which has been working well for me. I’ve also recently had an earache which is being treated with drops and hasn’t been an ongoing problem.

I might be 7 years old, but don’t write me off as an old girl just yet! I still have plenty of energy for walks and games, balanced perfectly with my appreciation for a good nap and a comfy couch.

My perfect home would have no young children (8+ years old would suit me), perhaps no other dogs....or possibly a compatible smaller dog following a successful meet and greet. Most importantly, I’d love people who are around often, want me to be part of their everyday life and have plenty of cuddles and attention to give.

My family loves me very much, and letting me go hasn’t been an easy decision. They just want to see me settled somewhere I can feel comfortable, relaxed and completely adored for the rest of my years.
