🐾 MEET HOLLY
Holly is a bright, confident and very affectionate little Jack Russell with plenty of personality and a long life ahead of her.
She is lively, curious and loves being involved in whatever her humans are doing. Holly is independent enough to happily explore the garden, but once you sit down, she is very keen to remind you that cuddles and attention should really be the priority.
🎓 A CLEVER LITTLE GIRL
Holly is intelligent and responsive and has very good recall. She is house-trained and dog-door trained, sleeps happily through the night and has settled beautifully into foster care.
🐕 GREAT WITH OTHER DOGS
Holly is very dog-friendly and is living happily with both large and small dogs, including Greyhounds and another Jack Russell. The other dogs enjoy her company, and she has shown herself to be confident and socially capable.
Even after being firmly put in her place by one of the resident Greyhounds, Holly simply accepted the correction and carried on without holding a grudge.
She is untested with cats.
🏡 LIFE IN FOSTER CARE
Since arriving in foster care, Holly has settled considerably and is proving to be a very adaptable little dog. Now that she understands her foster mum will always come home, she has shown no inclination to wander and much prefers staying close to her people — after all, that is where all the fun and action is.
She absolutely loves the car, has a healthy appetite, is not fussy with her food and barks only when appropriate to do so.
💕 AFFECTION IN ABUNDANCE
Holly can be a little pushy when asking for attention and would benefit from a home prepared to continue teaching her polite manners. In return, however, she offers an enormous amount of affection, companionship and classic Jack Russell enthusiasm.
She is cuddly, bright, engaging and full of character — everything there is to love about a Jack Russell.
👨👩👧👦 THE HOME HOLLY NEEDS
Holly definitely needs a canine companion in her new home, together with a couple of humans who will make her part of everyday family life. She is a very social little dog and thrives on both canine and human company.
We think she would also love a home with children. She is confident, affectionate and people-focused, and there has been no evidence whatsoever of aggression in her behaviour — unless the resident Greyhound muscles in on Holly’s food bowl!
🚙 INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS
Interstate applications are very welcome. We regularly adopt dogs to suitable homes throughout Australia and can assist with arranging road transport through one of the pet transport companies we use regularly. Transport costs are the responsibility of the adopter.
Because an interstate adoption usually means you will not be able to meet Holly beforehand, we will make sure you have as much information as possible about her before you decide to proceed. We want both you and Holly to have the best possible chance of a successful, permanent match.

HEARTWORM PREVENTION
We don't know if Holly has been treated with heartworm prevention. Heartworm risk is low on the Southern Downs; however, we are happy to arrange a heartworm test for a successful applicant on request.
Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Cats:
