Ziggy

We're searching for a caring and patient home for gorgeous Ziggy. She was recently rescued from a rural pound where she had been found as a pregnant stray. By the time the pound found our rescue network and she was transferred to our care Ziggy was ready to pop... she gave birth to 5 very sweet pups the following day!

Ziggy is just a pup herself and has not had the best start to life so we're hoping to find a foster home or foster with a view to adopt, willing to put in a little time and effort to help Ziggy learn how to socialize with people (men in particular seem to be a bit scary) and work on some basic training.

We've listed Ziggy as a large dog but she's not big for her estimated breed mix (possibly mastiff?) She arrived quite emaciated and is still putting on condition so she's underweight at the moment we'd estimate her weight might get to approx. 25-28kg fully grown.

Ziggy is a protective mum and has been reactive toward seeing other dogs while in care with her babies. Pound staff did say she had positive interactions with dogs during the 6 weeks she was in their care so this may improve once her homones have settled and she no longer has pups to worry about but on the chance that she may never become dog-social. We're looking for a home with no other pets and a human who is prepared to keep her safe and steer her clear of interactions with other dogs if/when needed.

Despite the obstacles her past has presented, Ziggy is a lovely dog with great potential. She is gentle, fun and affectionate. She is quiet and clean. She adores having cuddles and would make a great companion for someone who lives alone or a couple seeking a big goofy fur child to complete their family.

Ziggy is currently still raising her pups but we are accepting expressions of interest now as she will be available on a foster or foster-to-adopt arrangement at the end of October. Successful applicants will be invited to meet and spend some time with her and her pups to get to know her before making a commitment.
