Meet Matilda, a gorgeous Dachshund with a sweet nature and a heart full of love to share. This lovely lady is searching for a nurturing home where she can be cherished as a family member. Matilda has a gentle and loving soul, and even though she's shy and timid with new faces due to her past experiences, she will blossom with time, patience, and understanding. Once comfortable in her surroundings, her loyalty and easy-going demeanour will shine through, providing a lifetime of companionship and joy.

Matilda prefers to lounge on her comfy bed close to her favourite humans, enjoying the simple pleasures of a peaceful household. She gets along well with other small, gentle dogs and shares a special bond with her best friend, Isabelle, another dachshund. Matilda is clever and knows how to use the doggy door, relishing her runs in the backyard. Though she can be a bit stubborn about taking her medication, she will surely give in for some extra cuddles. And those cuddles are something she absolutely adores.

This gentle girl loves her food and is on a mission to gain a little weight to reach her healthy ideal. She is currently fed on Royal Canin kibbles to graze on throughout the day, raw chicken necks for lunch and a healthy home cooked meal for dinner.

Matilda is looking for a home with someone who understands her breed and is home more often than not, as Matilda thrives with constant love and attention. In return, she offers boundless loyalty and will enrich any household with her presence.

4. Do you currently have any other animals living with you?
If so, please provide details about each animal, including their species, age, breed and personality, and how they generally interact with other animals.

5. Do you have previous experience with Matilda’s breed? If not, have you done thorough research into the breed, including its temperament, exercise needs, grooming, training and potential health requirements?

6. Are you familiar with the long-term responsibilities of dog ownership, including training, socialisation, exercise and ongoing care? Are you willing to give Matilda the time, patience and support she needs to settle into her new home?

7. How many hours will Matilda be left alone on a typical day? Who will be responsible for caring for her during your working hours, absences, holidays or other periods when you are unable to be with her?

8. Are you financially and practically prepared to provide Matilda with quality veterinary care, preventative healthcare, grooming and nutritious food throughout her lifetime?

9. Will Matilda be considered a member of your family and primarily live indoors, with appropriate access to a secure backyard/outdoor area? Please describe where Matilda will sleep and how she will be accommodated overnight.

10. If your circumstances change in the future and you are no longer able to care for Matilda, do you agree to contact PFPRI and seek our assistance before making any arrangements to surrender, rehome her?
