About Max
Introducing Max!
Max is a Maltese x Shih Tzu x Poodle born 16th September 2017.
Unfortunately Max's previous owner's house was sold out from under her & she wasn't able to care for him any longer. Her son got Max for her as a lap dog, but while he loves his people and will cuddle with them, he's much more excitable & inquisitive to be classed as a lap dog. Don't let his age fool you, he's full of beans and wants to experience all this life has to offer.
His surrender form states he started as an indoor dog, but enjoyed being outdoors more so he became an indoor/outdoor dog. He is toilet trained as long as he has access to outside, he travels well in the car, has no separation anxiety, is friendly with children & adult strangers. He's not friendly with cats, but is friendly with other dogs.
Since being at the facility Max has been an incredibly affectionate & sweet boy. No one believes he's 9 years old as he spends most of his days bouncing in excitement. We've noticed that Max absolutely loves a belly rub and he makes the cutest faces while you scratch. He's not overly interested in toys, but gets very excited whenever he sees/spends time with his favourite people.. which seems to be everyone he meets.
Max tested quite well with other dogs. He met two large, male dogs and he showed no signs of aggression or unease.. he just wasn't overly interested in spending any time with them. We believe Max could be suitable to live with another dog, or be the spoilt only "child" at home. If you have a friendly dog at home, we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Unfortunately Max has shown signs of prey drive with cats and pocket pets, so he will need a home with no small animals.
Max has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety since being at the facility.
Max still has so much to learn about the world and life and would love to be in a home where he is included as a member of the family. He will thrive in an environment that guides him with positive direction and lots of love and attention.

His adoption fee is $500 & includes his desexing, vaccination and lifetime registration. He's also regularly treated for fleas and worms.
Max is currently located in East Maitland.

If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
