Edward *On Trial*

*edward is currently trialling his new home* hey there i’m edward and i’ve misplaced my old home so i’m looking for a forever one and i’m hoping you might just have the purrfect place for me!!!

edward was dumped at our local pound after having his rear leg caught in a trap. One of our wonderful sarg volunteers noticed he wasn’t doing well so she took him to the vet thinking he’d probably be put to sleep but on the drive they bonded and then during his examination when edward, who was obviously in pain, didn’t stop purring she knew she had to save this beautiful boy so she paid to have his now useless leg amputated and then took him home for some well-deserved rest and recuperation while we find him somewhere special to live. As you can see in edward’s 2nd photo his fur is slowly growing back and he’s adjusted well to only having 3 legs though every now and then he forgets and goes for a tumble but he’s soon up on his 3 legs again as nothing fazes this great natured cat! edward is friendly and affectionate and enjoys cuddles and attention. He loves curling up on the couch at night to watch tv with the humans and he isn’t fussy when it comes to food. Edward gets along well with other cats and friendly dogs don’t bother him. Handsome edward is toilet-trained and is getting used to using a scratching post again with his 3 legs. Our vets tell us that the loss of a fore-leg is actually more serious for a cat than the loss of a hind-leg. This is because the fore legs are used when the cat lands after jumping while the hind legs are used mostly for propulsion so lucky for edward he’s still got both of his front legs, the only thing he may need a little help with is grooming the spots he used to reach with his missing leg. Now that edward is used to being an inside only cat we would like to see this continued in his new home for the sake of his own safety.
