Pretty as a picture, bouncy as a spring and blessed with the unmistakable Dally “roo-roo”! 🎶🐾

Meet Dolly, our adorable 2-year-old Dalmatian mix who may be smaller and lighter than your typical Dalmatian, but absolutely makes up for it in personality!

Born 6 April 2024, Dolly weighs just around 20kg and is fully grown, making her a wonderfully practical size for all sorts of homes. She arrived as a stray on 23 September 2026 and, sadly, her microchip details aren't up to date, so we currently have incomplete owner information.

If Dolly isn't claimed during her mandatory impound period, she will be ready for adoption from 12 October 2026 — but we're already taking expressions of interest now! 💕

🎶 Dolly has found her voice!
If you've ever met a Dalmatian, you'll know they aren't exactly famous for being silent wallflowers! 😂

Dolly has already shown us her adorable Dalmatian vocal talents, including the classic “roo-roo” sound she uses when she wants your attention.

And honestly? It's pretty darn cute. 🥰

She's also a happy, bouncy, energetic girl who seems to think life is one big party. She loves meeting new people and has been an absolute sweetheart with everyone she's encountered so far.

We named her Dolly because she's pretty, she loves to sing, and she has the kind of cheerful personality that makes her a complete ray of sunshine. ☀️

🖤🤍 Don't let her looks fool you...
Dolly might not look 100% like a traditional Dalmatian, but her personality is VERY Dalmatian!

Dalmatian traits can include:

🐾 Energetic and athletic
🐾 Intelligent and curious
🐾 Affectionate and people-oriented
🐾 Playful and enthusiastic
🐾 Strong-willed and independent
🐾 Often very expressive and vocal
🐾 Naturally inquisitive — Dolly certainly likes to follow her nose! 👃
🐾 A breed with plenty of stamina and a love of being involved in family life

Dolly is also wonderfully agile and light on her feet, making her a great little adventure companion.

She's currently showing no signs of being an escape artist, although as with any dog, secure fencing is important.

🐕 What about other dogs?
Dolly appears to be very dog-social at the pound and has shown lovely interest in other dogs.

However, she has shown some possessive behaviour around food when other animals are present, particularly when high-value items are involved.

For this reason, Dolly would ideally be:

👑 The one and only dog in the home, OR
🐶 Living with a friendly, desexed male dog where her family is committed to separate feeding and managing high-value items.

This is something her new family will need to be comfortable managing responsibly.

🐱 No cats, please!
Dolly has a natural prey/chase drive, which is consistent with her Dalmatian-type traits, so she is not suited to living with cats or other small animals that may trigger her chase instinct.

👧 What about children?
We haven't been able to properly assess Dolly around children while she's in pound care, so at this stage we're looking for a home with teenage children or no children.

As always, any existing dogs in the household will need to come along for a meet-and-greet before adoption.

🌿 What kind of home would suit Dolly?
The exciting thing about Dolly is that she could suit a variety of lifestyles.

She could happily live in town with:

🏡 Indoor/outdoor access
🌳 A secure fenced yard
🚶‍♀️ A family who enjoys getting out and about
❤️ People who want a dog who is involved in family life

Or perhaps Dolly's next chapter could be on a lifestyle property!

She may have previously spent time roaming or living on a property/bushland-type environment, as she arrived quite underweight and with lesions on her legs and paws. We don't know her history, so we can't say whether she was roaming for an extended period or had been living on a property.

Thankfully, there are no active injuries currently requiring veterinary treatment. Her skin and overall condition will continue to be assessed by the vet when she is desexed.

We cannot currently guarantee how she would behave around livestock or farm fencing, so potential property adopters will need to understand that this is still an unknown.

Dolly is one of those dogs who seems to bring a little bit of sunshine wherever she goes.

She's pretty.
She's funny.
She's affectionate.
She's energetic.
She's wonderfully vocal.
She's got that unmistakable Dally sparkle. ✨
