If you are looking about very loving, playful and smart young dog who will be your shadow - Waleed is your true velcro dog.

Waleed is a very affectionate, young man with a velvety soft coat who loves nothing better than to sit on your lap and give you lots of kisses before settling in for a nap by your feet or on the sofa with you.
He loves human company and has enthusiastically greeted all visitors to my house with a hug and kisses.

As typical of a teenage dog, he greets us enthusiastically in the morning. We have been training him to not jump up on people to give them a hug. This is work in progress and his new family will need to continue working with him to learn a more polite way of greeting visitors. For this reason, he will be better suited to a house with older or dog savvy children.

Waleed has moderately high energy. He thrives when he has opportunities to burn off that energy in healthy ways like zoomies in the garden, a nice long walk or better yet a jog/run with you, or a play sessions with a doggy friend/sibling. He has learned to play with toys and prefers soft toys and those with a rubbery texture.

He gets on well with my labrador after a slow and careful staged introduction. Like many young male dogs, he can sometimes try to dominate and be a little enthusiastic in his play with other dogs. He also tried resource guarding us but stopped once he was told firmly that isn’t on.

He responses best to positive, firm and loving enforcement, and is a very quick learner. If he will have a fur sibling, it would be great if it is an older, confident dog who can be firm with boundaries while still enjoying his fun, goofy nature. However, he will be just as happy to have you all to himself as an only doggo.

We do not have any information about his past as he was found as a stray with his sister. He is on anti-anxiety meds but takes his meds easily. He hopped right into our car when we picked him up from the pound, seems to love car rides and knew the ‘sit’ command (although he wasn’t consistently following it). Since staying with us he has perfected this command and learned the ‘wait’ command when given food. He is toilet trained and has not had any accidents in the house after the initial couple when he was still figuring out the house layout. We are working on teaching him to tell us when he needs to go out. So, initially he will need to be let out every couple of hours.

He can be left on his own for a few hours after he has had his morning hug and a walk or better still an intense play session with a fur sibling. He also loves to be tucked into bed every night.

His new family will need to give him a lot of gentle assurances and understand that he will need a little time and space to decompress and adjust as he has already gone through many relocations in his young life which we suspect is the reason for his anxiety.

With a family who appreciates both his spirited playfulness and his deep affection, he will grow into an exceptional companion — joyful, loyal, and endlessly loving.
