Patty

Patty is a bright, affectionate young girl with a playful personality and plenty of potential.

She enjoys being around people, has some basic training already and is generally easy to walk on lead around the shelter. She can get excited and jump up to say hello, but she's also able to settle again and is responsive to calm guidance.

Patty can take a little time to feel completely comfortable with unfamiliar people, handling and new environments, so her new family should keep introductions positive and let her build confidence at her own pace. Using treats, praise and reward-based training will help her learn that things like handling, harnessing and meeting new dogs are all good experiences. She'll also benefit from learning some impulse control, especially around excited greetings, by rewarding calm behaviour and keeping things low-key while she settles into her new home.

She may be suitable to live with a well matched dog and is suited to a home with secondary school aged children or older. With her friendly nature, ability to settle and willingness to learn, Patty has all the makings of a lovely family dog.
