Rumi - 10 Month Old French Bulldog X Pug

Meet Rumi, a ten-month-old female French Bulldog x Pug with a fawn coat and a big personality. Rumi is affectionate, cuddly and playful. She loves being close to her person, relaxing in the sunshine, going for walks and enjoying treats.

Rumi is a quick learner who knows to sit and stay and has shown good recall. She walks well, travels well in the car and accepts handling. She is fully toilet trained, crate trained and uses a doggy door. She currently eats puppy food, a handful morning and night, and has a good appetite. Rumi has recently been on season causing her desexing to be delayed until it is safe to do so. Rumi desexing is covered under her adoption fee at one of our approved Vets.

Rumi can be nervous or reactive around unfamiliar people and other dogs. She has also shown resource guarding around food, toys and her person when another dog approaches. Rumi would benefit from her new family continuing with positive-reinforcement training, managing valued items carefully and giving her predictable routines and calm guidance. DRN recommends ongoing training to help her build confidence and practise appropriate sharing.

Rumi's best match will be an experienced, adult-only home where she is the only pet. She needs adopters who understand dog body language and can provide structure, supervision, enrichment and ongoing positive training. Rumi has not been assessed with cats in foster care.

Rumi must be welcomed indoors when her family is home and sleep indoors. She has coped well when left alone in foster care. Her new home will need secure fencing with no small gaps; rural-style mesh or wire fencing is not suitable.

Rumi's adoption fee is $1,100, which includes her desexing when she is old enough. She is vaccinated, treated for worms, fleas and is microchipped.

Rumi is in foster care in Mardi on the Central Coast, NSW. As she is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption in the Lower Hunter region (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland, Cessnock) and Upper Hunter (Singleton, Muswellbrook ), the Central Coast and Sydney. She’ll need to be returned to one of our approved vets for desexing in the next few months.
