🐾 MEET USHER

Usher is one of two gorgeous German Shorthaired Pointer × Kelpie puppies who came into ARK care at nine weeks of age.

While his brother Vito is the more confident adventurer, Usher is the quieter of the two — a sweet, more measured little fellow who tends to take things in before joining in.

He is still playful and curious, but has a gentler, more understated way about him and is likely to appeal to someone looking for an active dog with a slightly softer temperament.

🏡 A WONDERFUL START

Usher and his brother Vito had a wonderful start to life. From around two weeks of age they were gently handled and socialised and grew up as part of family life, with exposure to children, older dogs, cats and chickens.

That early experience has given Usher an excellent foundation, and his new family will need to continue building on it with positive, consistent training, thoughtful socialisation and plenty of involvement in everyday life.

🧠 BRAINS, ENERGY & ENTHUSIASM

There is plenty to like about this particular breed combination. German Shorthaired Pointers are athletic, intelligent sporting dogs renowned for their stamina and enthusiasm, while Kelpies bring sweetness of nature, agility and an eagerness to learn.

Together, those qualities make Usher a bright, capable young dog who should thrive in a home where both his body and his brain have plenty to do.

🏃 MADE FOR AN ACTIVE LIFE

At around 20 kgs when mature, Usher should be a terrific size for an active family.

Once fully grown and appropriately conditioned, he could make a wonderful walking, hiking or running companion, while activities such as agility, obedience, scent work or other dog sports could also suit him beautifully.

❤️ A FAMILY DOG AT HEART

Just as importantly, Usher has all the makings of a lovely family dog. He needs people who want their dog to be genuinely part of their lives — spending time inside with the family, joining in outings and enjoying plenty of companionship as well as exercise.

His ideal home will offer secure fencing, room to run and play, positive training and plenty of mental stimulation. He does not need to become a canine athlete, but he does need an active, engaged home that will give his clever mind and energetic breed mix an appropriate outlet.

Puppies are delightful, funny and enormously rewarding, but they also require time, patience, consistency and commitment.

Usher has had a terrific start in life; now he needs a family ready to continue that foundation and help this sweet, quieter boy grow into the wonderful adult dog he promises to be.

✂️ DEFERRED DESEXING PROGRAM

Usher will be adopted under ARK’s Deferred Desexing Program.

His adoption fee is $795, including the cost of desexing, subject to the terms of ARK’s Deferred Desexing Agreement.

His successful adopter will be required to sign the agreement and ensure Usher is desexed within the required timeframe.
