About Charlie
🐾 Meet Charlie – A Sweet Cavalier Boy Ready to Blossom 🐾
Charlie is a gorgeous 1 year and 10 months old Cavalier King Charles, weighing 7.5kgs, who has come into rescue as a retired breeding dog. All his vet work has been completed, including a dental scale and clean to give that gorgeous smile a fresh start. ❤️
Charlie is a very sweet, gentle boy who is still learning what life in a family home is all about. He wants to be involved and loves following his people around, but he isn't looking to be the centre of attention. He simply wants to be close by and feel like he belongs.
💕 Charlie's personality
Charlie is loving but can still be unsure of human touch. He will come over wanting a pat, enjoy it for a moment, then sometimes think, “Oh, that's a little scary!” and pull away. The lovely thing is that he comes straight back again because he really does want affection.
With patience, gentle handling and praise, Charlie is becoming more confident and comfortable every day.
He is the perfect mix of playful and relaxed. He enjoys a good run around the yard and loves exploring and sniffing everything, but he is equally happy snoozing on the couch or curling up on one of his many dog beds.
🚗 Car rides
Charlie really enjoys going for a drive, especially when he can safely see out the window and watch the world go by.
🐶 Other dogs
Charlie absolutely loves other dogs and is currently happily living with dogs ranging from 45kg down to 1.5kg, so size doesn't worry him at all.
We would love to see Charlie have another friendly and confident dog in his forever home. Having a canine friend to follow, learn from and gain confidence alongside would be wonderful for him.
👧 Children
Charlie is good with children, but because he is still learning about being handled and loved, he would suit dog-savvy children who understand that he needs a gentle approach and his own space.
He isn't a dog who should be rushed into cuddles. Allowing Charlie to approach in his own time will help him feel safe and build trust.
🐱 Cats & small animals
Charlie hasn't been cat tested.
He currently lives around budgies and has shown no interest in them.
🏡 Home life
Charlie is toilet trained and has lovely indoor manners.
He is not crate trained and we're unsure whether he can use a doggy door.
At night, he happily chooses between the human bed, couch or one of the many comfy dog beds in the bedroom.
He is generally a quiet boy. New situations can make him a little unsure and he may bark initially, but once he feels safe and comfortable, he barely barks.
🌿 Walks & the big wide world
This is an area where Charlie will need time.
He currently finds walks and being on a lead overwhelming and isn't ready to head out into the big wide world just yet. He isn't a puller — he simply becomes unsure and overwhelmed.
His new family will need to take things slowly, using lots of praise, patience and positive experiences. As Charlie's confidence grows, he may become more comfortable with exploring beyond his home.
🍗 Food & funny little habits
Charlie is motivated by treats and praise, which will be a huge help with his confidence-building.
He also has a very cute breakfast routine — he likes someone to sit with him while he eats! 😂 We're working on this, but his new family may need to continue helping him feel comfortable eating independently.
✂️ Grooming
Those gorgeous Cavalier feathers mean regular grooming will be required.
Charlie recently had a groom with our amazing rescue groomer and was the bestest boy! 🥰
❤️ Charlie's ideal home
Charlie needs a loving and patient family who understands that confidence takes time.
He would love another friendly dog to learn from and gain confidence with, and a home where people are happy to let him settle at his own pace.
He doesn't need someone to push him to become confident overnight. He needs someone who will quietly show him that he is safe, loved and finally part of a family.
Charlie is such a beautiful boy. He just needs a little time to believe that the love he has always wanted is finally here. 🐾❤️

- Your current dogs vaccinations up-to-date and have a copy of the certificate to send thru (please contact your vet asap if you don't have a copy)
- Your dog can travel to the carers location
- You are available to attend the meet and greet within the next 7 days

Adoption details
Paw Prints Canine Rescue is a non for profit dog rescue located in Southeast Queensland.
All our dogs leave our care with full vet work (up-to-date vaccinated, microchipped, desexed, heart worm and intestinal wormed and flea treated).
Please note - They will not leave for their new homes until they are 12 weeks of age and have been desexed, micro-chipped and vaccinated up to date.
Please note - we are not a pound or have kennels - all our dogs stay in foster carers homes and therefore dogs are not able to be simply viewed - only approved applicants will meet the dogs.

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $250) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption - each bio will state if available for adoption - please check before applying.
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 10 day trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
