Bilo

Meet Bilo, a beautiful 6-year-old Maltese boy who weighs just over 10kg and has come into our care after his owner could no longer give him the time and attention he needed.

Bilo is a beautiful, gentle soul with a heart absolutely full of love to give. He is friendly, affectionate and loves people. Being around his humans, spending time with them and getting involved in whatever they are doing is his favourite thing in the world.

Bilo is a solid, healthy boy with plenty of energy. He can sometimes get a little too excited, especially when he is happy to see you, and may jump up or accidentally nip in his excitement. He simply needs gentle reminders to calm down and learn that all his excitement needs to be expressed a little more calmly.

Bilo knows how to use the doggy door. He takes himself outside as he pleases. Bilo loves running around in the backyard exploring and getting out for walks.
He is an active boy who would enjoy a family that can keep him involved in their daily life and give him plenty of companionship and exercise.

Bilo gets along well with other dogs and would be happy to have a canine companion of a similar size and energy level. He does become a little unsettled when left alone, so his ideal home would be one where his humans are around more often than not, or where he has another suitable dog for company.

Bilo is also a very good eater and certainly isn’t fussy when it comes to food! 😋

His coat is currently kept short and is growing back. Once his beautiful coat grows out, he will need regular brushing at home and professional grooming approximately every 5–6 weeks to keep him comfortable and looking his best.

Bilo is currently enjoying Royal Canin kibbles, raw chicken necks and a healthy home-cooked meal for dinner.

Above all, Bilo simply wants to be loved. He wants to be close to his humans, be part of their lives and shower them with all the love and affection he has in his heart.

We are looking for a loving home that understands Bilo’s needs, will continue working with him on his excitement and give him the companionship, attention, exercise and love he deserves.

4. Do you currently have any other animals living with you?
If so, please provide details about each animal, including their species, age, breed and personality, and how they generally interact with other animals.

5. Do you have previous experience with Bilo’s breed? If not, have you done thorough research into the breed, including its temperament, exercise needs, grooming, training and potential health requirements?

6. Are you familiar with the long-term responsibilities of dog ownership, including training, socialisation, exercise and ongoing care? Are you willing to give Bilo the time, patience and support she needs to settle into his new home?

7. How many hours will Bilo be left alone on a typical day? Who will be responsible for caring for him during your working hours, absences, holidays or other periods when you are unable to be with her?

8. Are you financially and practically prepared to provide Bilo with quality veterinary care, preventative healthcare, grooming and nutritious food throughout his lifetime?

9. Will Bilo be considered a member of your family and primarily live indoors, with appropriate access to a secure backyard/outdoor area? Please describe where Bilo will sleep and how she will be accommodated overnight.

10. If your circumstances change in the future and you are no longer able to care for Bilo, do you agree to contact PFPRI and seek our assistance before making any arrangements to surrender, rehome him?
