Guiness

Hi there!

I'm Guiness, a handsome 2 year 10 month old American Staffy boy with a gorgeous black and white coat, fabulous white socks, and muscles for days!

I'm a super happy boy who loves life, especially when life involves treats, cuddles and a good game of tug-of-war.

When I'm not showing off my impressive muscles, I'm quite the softie. I LOVE a cuddle and will happily lean in for some affection once I know you. I also take my job as a backyard journalist very seriously. Give me some sunshine and a yard and I'll be busy reading all the latest wee-mail, there are so many important smells to catch up on!

I've had a bit of a journey to get here. New people and unfamiliar places can make me feel worried. Handling and vet visits were also pretty scary for me at first. However despite all this, I've worked incredibly hard, and I've come a long way!

With support from the behaviour team and my animal attendant friends, I've been learning that unfamiliar people can be okay and that handling doesn't always have to be scary. These days, I'm showing much more confidence and can approach people softly, seek out interaction, lean in for handling and happily work for treats. I've become much more comfortable learning and accepting positive reinforcement. I've also been on some short-term medication to help manage my stress in the shelter environment.

I'm looking for a family who will understand that I need patience, consistency and time to build trust. In return, you'll get a goofy, affectionate, treat-loving, tug-of-war champion with a whole lot of love to give.

I wouldn't mind living with some kids in my new home, but I really want them to inderstand my boundries. So I'd like everyone at home to be at least secondary school aged, and will need to meet any kids here at the shelter so I can give them the tick of approval before moving in with them!

I'm also open to living with another doggo who can show me the ropes and keep me company, so if you have another furry friend at home and think we could be good friends, please bring them in so we can meet each other first!
