About Pete
Please only apply for this greyhound if you have:
- Are at home more often than out or have a med/large doggie friend for Pete
- Children over 6 years
Pete is a lovely, affectionate boy who is a joy to walk and live with. He is a wonderful walker – he doesn’t pull at all and actually needs a little encouragement to keep going. We enjoy regular 30-minute walks plus trips to the shops, and he copes brilliantly with all the everyday noises and activity of a busy street.
He is very friendly with people and is a classic “velcro dog” – he loves being with you and will happily follow you around the house. One of his favourite things is a good bum scratch! He also gets along well with the Golden Retriever in his home.
Pete has a playful side; he loves having his toys thrown for him and gets the best zoomies when his squeaky chicken comes out.
Like a true greyhound, after all the fun, he’s just as happy to settle down for a good nap.
Pete would suit a home that can offer companionship (he is quite people-oriented) and some daily walks and play. He has shown he can live happily alongside another breed dog and handles everyday outings with confidence.
[Note: Under Victorian Law greyhounds must be on-leash at all times in public areas, including in off-leash parks or ovals]

Adoption details
Step 1 – Complete an application form

Step 2 – If your circumstances suit a dog, we will call you for a chat to provide you with more information about the dog and answer any questions you may have. If you wish to proceed with the adoption we will arrange a time for a Meet & Greet and a home yard inspection to ensure adequate fencing and shelter is provided for the dog.
Step 3 - A meet and greet will be held with your family and any other pets you may have. All dogs are to be met in person.
Step 4 - If all parties are happy to proceed with the adoption, the adoption fee is to be paid and you will have a 14 day trial period. If at any time in that 14 days you find you cannot keep your dog, they can be returned to R2R and the adoption fee refunded less an admin fee.
At the time of adoption you will receive an adoption pack which will include:-
- Collar & Lead
- Muzzle
- Polar Fleece Coat
- Certificate of Sterilisation
- Certificate of Vaccination
- Information on caring for your greyhound
- Worming & Flea treatment dates
- Access to our private Facebook page for R2R Adopters and volunteers
