About River
Meet River, a 5-year-old kelpie girl with a sweet and gentle nature.
River is a well-mannered girl with a fantastic off-switch, who behaves beautifully in the house. She’s shy at first, but once she trusts you, she adores ear and butt scratches.
River would make a fantastic farm companion. She’s an easy dog to have around, and loves to be by your side, helping with farm chores. She has no concerns about machinery noises, and is well-behaved around sheep and chooks.
This gorgeous girl has had a rough start – she arrived in foster care in terrible condition, heavily pregnant, frightened, stressed, exhausted and sad.
She’s still learning to trust, and gets easily overwhelmed. Although she has made great progress while in foster care, now showing little sparks of joy, she still has a lot of healing to do.
She does gain confidence from other dogs, and would do best in a home with a friendly and calm, well-matched doggy friend. After appropriate introductions, she enjoys chasing other dogs and games of bitey face.
River is looking for patient humans who have a kind heart and will give her the time and space she needs to trust. She might take some time to come out of her shell, but once she does, you will have a little shadow by your side who will give you her whole heart.
She will need a rural home, and secure fences to keep her safe in the early days while she gets used to her new home – but they don’t need to be high, as she doesn’t jump over fences.
If you think River is your perfect match, send us an application outlining the life you can offer her.
River is located in TAS.
