TEMPERAMENT & BEHAVIOUR
Interaction with adults: Very good, friendly & easily warms up to new people, still learning not to jump but is responding well to command training. Not currently recommended for playing with toddlers due to his size and puppy sillys.
Interaction with other dogs: quickly warms up, can sometimes be bold in his approach but with zero negative behaviour. He does not suit being with smaller dogs as he plays and pounces. Happy to approach other dogs and engages to play without needing encouragement.

Best in a home with other animals? Rupert would suit both a single and other dog household, he would like company of his family or an active playmate. Both would be wonderful for him. To clarify, if you have a homebody around, he all good just to be with just you. If your work away during the day, a doggie playmate would see him on his best behaviour playing and engaging with them.

Energy level: Medium

Confidence level: Curious/ Outgoing out of the house, confident inside the house and around new people who enter the home.

General personality: Rupert is a typical big playful loving puppy, who is cuddly, observant and smart. He has quickly learnt some games & how to play fetch. He just loves spending time learning new commands and being praised for his great jobs well done. He is quite the food lover so consistent treat training will give you the best results when teaching him.

TRAINING & SKILLS
Housetrained: Confidently all done, has had zero accidents in the house since being in foster care.
Crate trained: Yes, doing very well at sleeping through the night and keeping the bed dry. As a puppy, he is still being crate trained and hois happy to use it without any problems.
Responds to name: Yes
Walks well on lead: Ok but needs more training.
Commands known: Sits and responds to his name, offers paw to shake, recall is coming along well.
Behaviour on walks (pulling, reactivity, confidence): Rupert is adventurous and hasn’t mastered walking in a straight line as he diverts off path for sniffing, but not hesitant to greet new people or friendly new dogs! Loud sounds like big trucks and motorcycles spook him as it does most puppies. Rupert is a strong boy who will need continued walking training however he has come very far in only a few weeks since being put on a lead.

Behaviour in the car: not a problem, a good traveller, likes to observe what's happening as the world wizzes past.

LIFESTYLE & ROUTINE
Favourite activities: playing fetch, splashing at the beach and being out for walks!
Favourite treats/toys: rope toys or anything that squeaks!
Daily routine in your home: wakes up full of energy and ready for a walk, has a play, a walk, eats his breakfast and then a long nap. Loves to play fetch and zoom around the backyard.
Sleeping habits (where they sleep, settle easily?): Rupert settles very easily, at night in his crate, during the day when home he shares a his fluffy bed with his foster sibling, on the couch or bed if there’s someone else lying there. After his evening walk he gets the zoomies and eats dinner - loves to play until he settles down when put in his crate before the adults go to bed.

Special quirks or adorable behaviours: loves following you wherever you are! Even if there’s food or treats in his bowl, he will follow you into the next room to check out what you are doing. He has some goofy sleeping positions which are always entertaining, paws and ears going in all directions, such a goofy fella.

Best suited home type:
Rupert warms up to an environment and new people well. He is best suited to an active home where he can be given the love and the long walks he deserves, whilst noting he is still a puppy so loves to chew and play. He would be an awesome running or jogging partner with his long athletic legs carrying him far. He would make a great camping buddy, loves the outdoors and swimming. He is looking for adopters who will be dedicated to training and routine, without that in his daily life, things will fall apart for everyone.

Preference will be given to applicants who want a companion dog to help build or build on their level of fitness and are dedicated to training for Rupert.

He loves to snuggle and will fall asleep next to you anytime you are close and need the quiet Rupert around. He doesn’t do well with being lonely so best suited to a household where someone in working from home part time / home often or he has another puppy savvy pet to hangout with.
