About Bonty
💙 Meet Bonty 💙
Bonty is a gorgeous 3-year-old Chihuahua, weighing around 4kg, with a very sweet soul and a heart that is learning what it feels like to be loved.
Bonty is a typical little Chihuahua — he can be nervous and timid around unfamiliar people and when entering a new environment. He needs someone who understands that trust takes time and is willing to be patient, gentle and reassuring while he finds his confidence.
Sadly, Bonty has never really experienced life as a beloved family pet. For the first three years of his life, he was simply used as a stud dog to produce puppies. He didn’t receive the love, attention, cuddles and affection that every little dog deserves.
Now that he is in our care, it is heartbreaking to see just how much love he has been missing. You can see it in his eyes — he is craving affection, security and someone of his own to love. ❤️
Once Bonty feels safe, he absolutely loves being close to his humans. He enjoys being cuddled and carried and feels especially secure snuggled up in your arms. One of his favourite things is curling up in bed, tucked underneath a warm blanket. 🥰
Bonty does need some patience and further training with his toileting. In his previous foster home, he was able to use the doggy door to go outside when he needed to, so with consistency and a suitable routine, we believe he can continue to improve.
Because Bonty feels safest in smaller, enclosed spaces, having a crate available as his own safe and quiet retreat would be beneficial. His crate should never be used as punishment — rather, it can become his little sanctuary where he can retreat whenever he feels overwhelmed or simply wants some quiet time.
Bonty is a truly beautiful little sweetheart. He gets along well with other small, similar-aged Chihuahuas, and having a confident Chihuahua companion could be very beneficial in helping him settle into his new home. That said, he could also be very happy as the only dog with humans who are home more often and are able to give him plenty of attention, affection and, of course, lots of cuddles.
Bonty is eating very well. He may initially be a little shy about taking food directly from your hand, but once he feels comfortable with you, he will happily take treats and food from your hand — another little sign that his trust is growing. ❤️
🏡 Bonty’s ideal home
Bonty would suit a quiet apartment with a secure balcony or a unit with a fully secured courtyard, particularly where he can safely access the outside through a doggy door when needed.
When his humans are out, Bonty is also comfortable spending time in a secure pet playpen with some toys and treats. This can provide him with a safe, contained space where he feels comfortable while his humans are away.
He would particularly suit:
🐾 A quiet household
🐾 Humans who are patient and understanding
🐾 Someone who is home more often
🐾 A home with another friendly Chihuahua, if the personalities are compatible
🐾 Someone who enjoys cuddles and having a little companion close by
🐾 A secure courtyard or safe outdoor access via a doggy door
🐾 A family willing to continue his toileting and confidence-building training
🍗 Bonty’s favourite things
Bonty is currently enjoying a combination of Royal Canin and Ziwi kibbles, along with his favourite chicken necks and meaty meals.
He may have had a difficult beginning, but Bonty is now ready to discover what life is really supposed to be like — safe, warm, loved and surrounded by people who adore him. ❤️
We are looking for a special person or family who will give Bonty the time, patience, security and unconditional love he needs to blossom into the happy little companion we know he can become. 🐾❤️

PFPRI Adoption Process
Please read our adoption process carefully before submitting an enquiry.
1. Pre-Adoption Screening
All applicants are required to complete our pre-adoption screening questionnaire when submitting an enquiry. This helps us understand your household, lifestyle and suitability for the animal you are interested in adopting.
2. Meet & Greet
After reviewing the responses, the most suitable candidates will be contacted to arrange a meet & greet with the animal.
3. Adoption Application
Following a successful meet & greet, shortlisted applicants will be invited to complete our formal application to adopt.
4. Adoption Approval & Payment
Once the adoption application has been approved, the full adoption fee must be paid within 24 hours to secure the adoption.
5. Adoption & Pick-Up
Pick-up of the adopted animal can be arranged once the adoption fee has been received and the adoption has been confirmed.
6. 14-Day Trial Period
We offer a 14-day trial period to help ensure the adoption is the right fit for both the animal and the family.
If the adoption proves unsuitable during the trial period, the animal may be returned to PFPRI and the adoption fee will be fully refunded, provided the animal is returned in healthy condition.
Our priority is always to ensure that every rescued animal is placed into a safe, loving and suitable forever home.
