Millie needs a special foster home 🐾

After spending her previous life as a breeding dog with very limited life experience, Millie arrived in our care shut down and frightened of the world around her. With the help of our behaviour trainer, veterinary team and behavioural medication, she is slowly starting to come out of her shell - and now she needs a foster home to help her take that next step.

Millie takes time to build trust, but once you're in her circle, a beautifully affectionate girl starts to emerge. Her foster carers will need to be her advocates, giving her choices, respecting her boundaries and introducing new experiences very slowly so she can learn that the world can be a safe place.

She is looking for a quiet, adults-only home with no other pets and few visitors. Millie is also working through separation anxiety and currently can't be left home alone, so she needs someone who is home most of the time or works from home.

You'll have plenty of support along the way. All of Millie's supplies will be provided, and you'll work closely with our behaviour trainer via Zoom to help her continue progressing. You'll also need to be able to make semi-regular trips to our Craigieburn shelter and vet clinic when required.

Fostering Millie is a chance to play a huge part in helping a scared little dog discover what being loved and safe really feels like. And when she's ready for adoption, if you've discovered you can't imagine life without her, her foster carers will have first preference to make her a permanent part of the family. 💛
