About Dean
Hi, I’m Dean! 🐾
My name is Dean, and I’m looking for someone to help me live my best life.
When I first arrived at the clinic, I was pretty scared and confused. My whole world had been turned upside down. I’d been out on the streets, doing what I had to do to survive...looking for the ladies, finding my next meal and generally trying to figure out where my next day was coming from.
Then I found myself at a busy veterinary hospital.
At first, I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it all. But the nurses were incredibly kind to me. They gave me a warm, fluffy bed, lots of patience and the time I needed to feel safe and, most importantly, FOOD! Everyone took the time to get to know me and understand that I’m not the sort of guy who immediately runs up to strangers for cuddles.
I need a little time.
Eventually, I was lucky enough to find myself a foster home where I could settle in and learn that maybe the world isn’t such a scary place after all.
And you know what?
The indoor life is pretty fantastic.
I’ve discovered beds. Oh, I LOVE beds.
I’ve also discovered heaters, and let me tell you, I have absolutely no idea why anyone would choose to live without one. Where were these things when I was living outside?!
But my greatest discovery of all has been FOOD.
Food is the best.
I love food so much that I simply cannot understand why my foster mum insists on putting it through the unnecessary process of opening the packet and putting it in my bowl. Personally, I think I should be allowed to eat directly from the packet.
I have tried to explain this to her by attempting to help myself.
She says I need to wait.
I think she is far too slow.
Once the very important business of dinner is taken care of, I’m quite happy to settle down on the bed for a lovely snuggle.
I love having my face patted and scratched, and I enjoy spending time with my people. I just like to have a say in when the cuddling starts and when it finishes.
I’m a man of boundaries, you see.
I’ll let you know when I’ve had enough, and I’d really appreciate it if my signals were respected. I’m still learning to trust people, so being able to choose when I want affection makes me feel safe and comfortable.
You can always give me a nice face scratch. But if my boundaries are crossed, I might give you a little nip. It’s just a warning!
See, I’m a little sassy. But you know what they say: treat them mean, keep them keen!
And you know, I’m just playing because I’ll happily snuggle straight afterwards. I just want to be close to you.
I’m still a little bit of a work in progress, but I’m learning every day.
I’m really not keen on dogs… they really do have dumb faces, and, like, what’s their deal? Toys are not as good as food? I’m a simple guy. They say the way to a guy’s heart is through his stomach!
I’m more of a Netflix-and-chill kind of guy.
I’m looking for a forever home with someone who understands that good things take time. Someone who will be patient with me, let me come out of my shell at my own pace, respect my boundaries and, of course, provide an adequate supply of food.
And by adequate, I mean 24/7 NEVER-ENDING BOWL!
I promise I have plenty of personality to give in return.
If you think you might be the person for me, I’d love to meet you.
Just bring patience, a comfy bed, a heater and a food packet that opens really, really quickly.
Love,
Dean 🐾❤️

Adoption details
If interested in an animal that is available for adoption, we require you to fill out an adoption application, and one of our lovely foster carers will give you a call to organise a time for a meet and greet. Depending on the requirements of the animal, a house/property inspection may be required. It is a requirement that any dogs being adopted into a pre-existing dog home, will need to have a meet and greet with the dogs, to ensure they are a good match.
If approved for adoption, a mutually convenient time will be arranged, to complete the adoption paperwork. A trial adoption can be offered under certain circumstances if required, but will not be an option for every animal. It is at the discretion of Fin, Furred N Feathered, if this is an option. If you would like a trial adoption of 2 weeks, please speak to us! The adoption fee will need to be paid in full, before a trial adoption can take place.
If not approved for adoption, we are more than happy to have a chat with you, why you were not successful for that animal, to see if we can help you find your perfect family member!
**Please note: As we are very busy people, working full time jobs, and taking care of all our lovely animals (our most important and rewarding job!!), we require all interested people fill out an application, rather than send an enquiry, as this helps us know more about you and what you are after, and saves us all a lot of time!
ONLY FILL OUT AN APPLICATION IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT ADOPTING.
