Meet Dusti,
Dusti is a gentle, timid girl who likes to take her time getting to know the people around her. New faces can be a little overwhelming, and even familiar ones may need to remind her that they're friends if she hasn't seen them for a few days. But approach Dusti quietly, give her the space to make her own decisions and you'll slowly start to see those walls come down.
Once you've earned her trust, Dusti has a beautifully affectionate side waiting underneath. Ear and chin scratches are her favourite, and you can almost watch her relax a little more with every pat. Being picked up and cuddled is still outside her comfort zone, although she's becoming more tolerant as her confidence grows. Dusti is happiest when she has all four paws safely on the ground and can choose when she's ready to interact.
Toys haven't caught her attention just yet, and food isn't necessarily the secret password to winning her over either - although she can usually be tempted by a creamy squeezy treat. For Dusti, feeling safe seems to be far more important than anything else right now, so her playful side may simply be something we haven't had the chance to meet yet. She does enjoy play dates with Misty, the cat she arrived with, and the two are comfortable spending time together.
Dusti is looking for a calm, quiet home with a patient and understanding person who won't expect her to become confident overnight. Another gentle, well-matched cat may be suitable, although any resident pets would need to complement her quieter nature and be introduced slowly. Dusti might make you work a little harder for her friendship, but watching a timid cat begin to relax, lean into your hand and realise she can trust you makes every small step forward feel that little bit more special.

• All adoptions must go through our Council website - so head over there!
• Search for the animal you are interested in by typing their name or impound number in the search bar
• Read through their profile & click the red button which says 'Submit an Expression of Interest'
• Next, we'll reach out to you
• If all goes well, we'll discuss the next steps and a meet & greet!
With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C5 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
The adoption fee for cats covers F3 vaccination, health check, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
