My Ideal Home:
• Familiarity and understanding of my breed traits would be highly valued. Some of my behaviours are very typical of my breed.
• I’ll need daily exercise — walks, park or beach trips, and playtime in the backyard will keep me happy and healthy.
• Ongoing training and guidance with basic manners will help me grow into a well-behaved companion.
• I want to be part of the family indoors — not left outside without interaction.
• Secure fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent) is essential to keep me safe.
• I’d love plenty of toys and mental enrichment to keep my busy mind occupied.
• A good-quality dry food diet will help support my dental health.
• Regular grooming and brushing will keep me looking and feeling my best.
• I’m used to a quiet, mature household and would love a similar environment.
• If there are kids in your family, they must be older than 5 and understand when to leave me alone as I resource guard.
• As an active breed, I have lots of energy, so I’ll need an active family who can keep up with me.
• Socialisation is just as important as training. Taking me to new places, introducing me to all sorts of people, dogs, and other animals will help me grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog.
• Training, training, training — it’s essential that I receive consistent guidance in every aspect of my life. I am very stubborn (it’s a breed thing) and I haven’t listened to my training previously.
• I do show signs of resource guarding over things like bones and some of my toys (squeaky ones). This trait is typical for my breed and will need someone that understands this and will work with me.
• I would benefit from a friend to keep me company but a submissive one is best suited due to my resource guarding. If I’m your only dog I will need someone that will be willing to work on my anxiousness and separation anxiety.
• I have a high prey drive, so I’m not suited to homes with cats or small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, or ducks.
• My previous owner mentioned that I would sometimes dig when left alone in the yard. A secure yard is very important for me, and I may benefit from enrichment

My Paw-some Perks:
• I absolutely love attention, cuddles, hugs, kisses and head scratches, and I’m quite partial to snoozing on the couch with my humans.
• I LOVE toys — especially squeaky ones! Fetch and tug-of-war are some of my favourite games.
• I’m exuberant and full of beans, always ready for fun and adventure.
• Being very scent-driven (it’s a breed thing!), I’d excel at scent games and enrichment activities.

Training:
• I can feel anxious when left alone in the backyard and may become vocal, barking or whining. A home where I can spend plenty of time indoors, have lots of company, and be provided with enrichment toys or treats when alone would suit me best.
• I may show some resource guarding around toys or treats. I will trade happily for something higher in value, and with patience, consistency, and positive training, this is something we can continue to work through together.
